Telemarketing Blocking Website

Post by Paolo »

Yesterday, the US government activated the website for states east of the Mississippi river to register phone numbers for the "Do not call" listings.

http://donotcall.gov/

They estimated that the site was taking about 3,000 hits a second! Must be a lot of people out there who don't like telemarketing!

The process is simple. Go to the site, enter the phone number, a valid email address, and wait for confirmation. Click the link in the confirmation mail, and you're done. The number is registered for five years.

Now, whether it will work or not is another story, but it's worth a shot!

Thanks Paolo, I really hope this works. I forward all my home calls to my cell phone so I have been paying to be annoyed by these calls.

It's more than telemarketing and SPAM. You can't get away from someone hawking something at you. The TV commercials have made viewing programs a joke. I don't know why they are allowed to exercise their annoying practices -- mainly cranking up the volume to double the sound of the program, packing in every 3-second promo, and the worst(!), running those promotional "flyers" at the bottom of the screen while you're trying to focus on the program. They invade our homes constantly with impunity (one of my favorite words, thank you).

But it's more than ads. Here we have the Christians driving up to the house, usually in herds of cars, knocking on the door to bring you the "good news that's in the Bible." Just when you're involved in something at a time when you don't want to be interrupted.

What I don't understand is why they think you are going to buy or accept what they are selling or hawking when they get you so mad you want to take a horse whip to them? And why they ignore your refusal and your statement that you don't want to be bothered? And then tell you that YOU are rude when you finally blow up at them? I believe a fine is not enough. We need a stiff punishment that they understand. Like having to call other marketers and tell them the law for eight hours a day.

The quality of life, at least here in the US, has been destroyed as everything gets sacrificed to marketing. What is so sacred about advertising that it takes precedence over individual choice?

Once again I missed the boat by about 3 miles. East of the Mississippi right. DAMN

What really pisses me off is when they call 7, 8 times in one evening, this happened with MCI, after the 7 call on day 2 I told the young lady that I was not going to put MCI on the dont call list provided by the state of Missouri, no, I will handle it myself, "go ahead call me again, make my day". I got my refs whissle out and set it next to the phone waiting for the call. I am still waiting and its now been over a year. hmmm.

East of the Mississippi 😠 I guess it could be worse, I could have moved to Indiana. 🔨 🔨 🔨 🔨 🔨

River needs 🙋

Yes, they can trample all over your life and peace and privacy, but idon't you dare to be rude to them!!! Like they have a right to invade your home.

What gets me is why they think someone would buy anything from them if they hate them so much.
