New Vbulletin rendition

Post by talula »

Let me be the first to thank Bboy for upgrading to vbulletin 3.

It is a bit different and is going to take not only some getting used to but also some tweaking. Please bare with Bboy while he tweaks.

There are some really cool features with this new vbulletin which I'm sure folks will like as much as I.

Watch out for Bboy's dust!!!!

After reading ONE forum and marking IT read, all forums were marked as READ. All the icons turned from yellow to blue.

IE6, Windows NT2000, with boards open for approx. 5 minutes.

Don't give ME that angry post icon young man!

:-P

I have never - even on the old version - used the mark read function. Which button did you use?

Just browsing/visiting the read/unread post seems to work same as before.

More Info:

I just did a test using the "Mark Forum Read" link and it was successful in only marking the current forum and leaving the rest.

Is it possible that the problem is my badly labeled "Mark Read" button which I am assuming now should read "Mark All Read" ??

I guess if you live right on the IDL then the post date that reads "yesterday" or "Today" would have som emeaning.

I guess teh bugs need to be worked out for when you click on Message Boards at the Home Page and it takes you to something that needs to be re-clicked several tiems till you finally get on teh boards? Or on board?

I am old, and no one listens to the old. But except for all the glitches, you puppies are doin' swell.

Well the new board is full of features, but I have noticed it is running real slow. not sure if it is the number os users on the server or new software. I can't compare it to the old software since I haven't been on in a few weeks.

Hmmm. Seems very responsive here. The server load averages aren't any higher than normal. There have been some reports that rendering may be affected by the lack of tables for each post (ie: previously each post was a seperate table and the browser would render it immediately when finished)

On some pages, some browsers may 'hold' rendering the page until all (or enough) of the information is there.

Keep an eye out folks and don't be shy reporting issues.

IF you've set up ypur user profile correctly the software knows what time zone you are in relative to the location of the server and will adjust things accordingly.

On the 2nd issue, the link works for me. I can't reproduce any errors ... so I may need some more info like when you were trying it (I have been working on the software and recompiling PHP on this machine today), what browser you are using, and anything else you can think of.

Hopefully it was just a side effect of the maintenace I have been doing.

I think unless you live on the IDL the terms "yesterday" or "today" become theoretical. But I am old and no one listens to the old...and when the post tells me it's Yesterday and I am still in Today, I am even older. A minor matter in light of the improvements however.

Now that thumbnails of posted pictures are included in the posts, is the maximum size for graphic submissions still 480 X 480?
