My doctor is trying very hard to push statins on me, and I have serious doubts about them both because of what I've read about their side effects (on reputable sites, not huckster crap sites) and whether I have such bad issues that I really NEED them...
I will admit to having pretty strong doubts about the medical system given personal experiences - I'm in a wheelchair and my GF is legally blind due to medical care, is it any wonder?
My latest lipid panel says my HDL, and HDL / LDL ratio are both good, and LDL is within normal range, the 'Total', triglycerides, and non-HDL numbers are high but not by a lot...
One or two of the articles I found mentioned that there seemed to be some advantages for pre-menopausal women from estrogen - given that my doc has me on supplemental E patches, targeting that level, do I get any of that benefit?
Does anyone know if there is any research on statins and eunuchs (or possibly M->F TG) or heart disease in general?

It's hard to say but likely not yet. Anytime a medical issue becomes political you never get a straight answer. It could be years before we get any good data on the long term health of trans people. As for eunuchs the desire to market drugs is too strong to get an honest answer. The first thing that comes to mind for me is weight and diet. I would start there and eat a high protein low carb and sugar diet. Veggie powder diet supplements and drinks work really well for staying on a restricted diet because they kill the cravings and improve the way that you feel without up setting your stomach like raw juice does when you first start. I would stay away from statin drugs unless you absolutely need them. Did you have this problem before castration and did you put on weight since becoming disabled?

I have been slowly putting on weight, I think, since I was first injured in 2010. It is hard to tell as despite it being 30+ years after the ADA, doctors offices still don't have any good way to weigh people in wheelchairs (they tell us to watch our weight, but nothing about HOW...) and the available tech is mostly not practical for home use (expensive, takes up huge amounts of space, etc...) As a result I get weighed every 3-4 YEARS.... My best guess is that I've gone from about 230 to 270ish in 14+ years. However I'm still wearing the same size clothing so don't think it's been that bad.
I've been doing some sort of low-carb diet for decades - I started Atkin's back when I was trying to get the GF pregnant and we were both advised by a fertility doc that losing weight would improve our odds.... It didn't work for that, but I've stuck to it although I'm a bit more relaxed than I used to be... I'm primarily a meat eater, mostly beef and pork, some chicken, not much fish (to expensive!) but I've been trying to add in more fruits and vegetables in the past year or so, mostly to try to improve bowel function... I will admit that quantity is a problem, but I *LIKE* food, and eating is one of those activities that being in a chair doesn't make harder...
Looking at my test results in my EHR going back to 2018, Some of the numbers, HDL and the Chol/HDL ratio have been pretty steady, the others have had some swings but mostly been trending up slowly. I don't see any big changes in the trends that match up with my efforts to get fixed, either when I first started to do chemicals or after surgery...

I think you are like me and it's weight related. You are on enough estradiol to take care of pretty much everything. If things get worse than you have to train your mind and body to eat less food. And plain foods too, you have reduce calories in every way. It sucks but it's better than another pill, that's my outlook. Overall, how much better do you feel on your current estradiol dose verses what you started with?

I agree about avoiding big pharma pills, though I take a lot of other supplements (and may look into what non-pharma options there are)
I mostly don't eat a lot of fancy stuff - the recent "neuterversary" menu was a definite exception... But it wouldn't hurt to eat less for sure.
In terms of hormones - I have never felt any real difference no matter what I've been on... I don't know if that's just the way my body is wired, or if I just have the sensitivity of a rock...
I think I'm now a bit more mellow overall but I still get mad / stressed. However it seems "spikier" I get mad faster, but it ends pretty much as fast as whatever it was that pissed me off goes away...

Wheely, I know nothing about statins and e. I refuse to take statins... again. I take ezetimbe? for cholesterol. My numbers are fine for a normal person. It seems they want diabetics lower. But i'm not much out of range. Regardless, they wanted to add statins again for that. I refused. I took atorvastatin for a while before I figured out that it made my legs hurt. Like, bad. Worse than and on top neuropathy. No thank you. I took to eating cherios.

Don't know of any research, but for what it's worth, I take a statin (Rosuvastatin). Previously my cholesterol numbers were high. Now they're in the normal range. No noticeable side effects. Hormone-free for 18 months, just vitamin D3 and a calcium pill. Good luck.
