Re: Chemical castration
Lots of people have done it either as a DIY method or under medical supervision as the 'test drive' part of a transition process... (The WPATH SOC v.8 procedure recommends a 6-12 month chemical castration trial prior to any surgery as a more or less reversible test so that the patient can see if he likes the reality as much as he expects....)
I did my CC trial with Lupron initially to shut things down, and then the Estradiol patches I was put on kept them turned off. There are several other drugs that can do the same thing. Many of those have various undesirable side effects, but have other pluses and minuses. Androcur, which is used in much of the world, is not approved for use in the US. (arguably for good reason)
There are a couple of LONG threads here on alcohol and calcium chloride injections which many have used, but this is NOT recommended! These days especially, in most places we suggest getting involved with your local transgender center to get yourself fixed under proper medical care.

Your best option is to see a gender affirming care doctor if you have access. I did chemical castration a few times with Androcur and Depot Provera injections. Both were from overseas pharmacies back when that as pretty much the only option for many of us. The depot provera shots can vary. A shot a week for 4 weeks and then reducing it to once a month worked good. Androcur at 100mg per day for a month and then 50mg per day also works good but I felt crappy on it. I remember stopping for 3 days and suddenly feeling a lot better. I thought wow, this is what castration really feels like if I didn't have to take these pills.

Androcur does have a tumor risk. The higher the dose the more side effects. If you can get through the first few months it is possible to drop it down to a 1/4 of a 50mg pill. You won't have any T production if you were on it long enough and you should not notice very much else from such a low dose. I think it works by shutting down FSH production which turns off any T production in the testicles. As long as you have enough according to your body, anything more is a waste and a greater risk. If you do Androcur long enough just like Depot Provera, you will experience permanent changes. 6 months should be the limit in my opinion unless you decide that it's right for you. Even repeated short term test runs over time will do the same thing.

Did you notice that you felt better after stopping the Depot Lupron? I'm wondering how that stuff stacks up to Androcur in the crappy feeling side effect department?

Re: Chemical castration
I found a medical professional which prescribed me Androcur 50. I took it for 1 1/2 Years in a quite high dose 2-0-2 = 200mg a day. And yes it worked. I became Impotent and less interested in sexual activity like intended. Meanwhile since spring 2023 I`ve switched to Leuproleline depot injection which lasts for 3 month. It even works stronger. My testosterone is on a castration level since 12 month. Even my testicles startet to shrink. yay.

Re: Chemical castration
I started HRT as a month-long chemical-castration trial, which quickly stretched into 3 months, and then permanent.
(<is a trans girl, so it became abundantly clear very fast that feminization is what I wanted, and so after the first couple of months I quit the DIY route and actually went in for a diagnosis for gender dysphoria.)
The method I used was Androcur purchased via overseas pharmacy, and then eventually my doctor moved me over to Finasteride + E once I had the therapist letters / diagnosis for actual HRT.

I actually didn't notice a lot of difference STARTING it - to the point where I was wondering if I'd done something wrong doing the injection and not gotten the dose... It happened that our HVAC died about the same time, and I had a few instances of waking sweating severely, but it wasn't clear if it was a 'hot flash' or just HOT...
However I'd gone off the supplemental T I'd been using for a few years about a month before, and as a result was already at about 1/2 'normal' when I did the first dose. I then started on E patches before stopping the Lupron....
So I didn't notice any real changes going on or off it, but there may be other reasons why... However what I've read is that Lupron is supposedly about the lowest side effect drug of any of the CC drugs out there. However it is also supposedly MUCH more expensive than Androcur (Insurance picked up my bill so I don't know the costs for sure...)

Re: Chemical castration
I also did chemical castration for a year before getting castrated. I also had just quit smoking, I must say what I remember is everything looked brighter, clean, I could smell the flowers again. that was from quitting smoking for sure. It was a nice transition form T to none.
I got the pills for this on line, then found a Doctor in my city to help me through the process. He was great, supporting all the way. the doctor I used is now retired so I can't help you there.
I have never regretted my decision to be castrated one second. I do not take HRT. and life is great.
Good Luck

Re: Chemical castration
I did two bouts of chemical castration first one approx 6 months, then a pause and then another round of about 4-5 months before going the permanent route.
One thing I noticed after a couple of weeks on Androcur was getting out of breath quickly, other than that no real negative experiences.
I was DIY, started with 100mg. Then after three weeks tapered down to 50mg. Couldn’t go lower because I bought the pills as 100mg, and splitting these in half e.g. 50mg. Was all I could do.
