Potentially problematic US legislation just passed Senate

Post by WheelyFixed »

This was posted on another newsletter I follow, and I feel it could be potentially a concern if it passes - in theory minors aren't allowed on EA, but there isn't any way to stop one from lying about their age, and I could easily see that being used to make a problem for EA...

(Sorry if this is political, but sometimes there is a need to be into politics to keep the politicians out of you....)

The KOSA internet censorship bill just passed the senate — it's our last chance to stop it

The Senate just passed a bill that will let the federal and state governments investigate and sue websites that they claim cause kids mental distress. It’s a terrible idea to let politicians and bureaucrats decide what people should read and view online, but the Senate passed KOSA on a 91-3 vote.

You're right, this will likely wade into being political.

Your initial post is kept so people can go to the link and come to their own conclusions, but we'll not debate it here.
