Thanks again, Justine!
My surgeon rescheduled my scrotectomy, so it is now going forward on September 11th. He will do a follow-up exam on the 18th, at which time he will confirm whether I am safe to fly/travel to my conference on the 20th. His medical assistant seems to think I will be fine, but they want me to (1) avoid lifting anything over 10 pounds (2) avoid long distance walking, and (3) "walk with a wide stance" (insert bad Larry Craig joke here). I've made arrangements for wheelchair assistance at the airports. Since the destination is an hour and a half drive from the airport, a friend is meeting me on arrival to load baggage, drive me, and assist me with anything that comes up during the conference. The conference organizers have graciously agreed to plan for me to be seated while delivering my presentations. All told, I think I've arranged for the best circumstances possible.

I've been cleared through my pre-op examination, so surgery is a "go" for September 11th. It will be nice to have this over with.

Can you hive us an update on your scrotectomy? I’m considering getting one but my urologist has advised me that healing time is long and complications are possible so that has concerned me. Thanks!

See http://forums.eunuch.org/showthread.php ... um-Removal - I think it answers the question you are asking....
So far I'm finding healing to be taking longer than I was hoping / expecting, but I may not have been realistic in my expectations... I have had the complication of swelling making it impossible to access my very small penis for cathing, but that is a bit of an unusual circumstance, probably wouldn't be an issue if you are 'average' size.
Otherwise I'd say that your surgeon is right about complications are possible, but that is the case w/ ANY surgery, and so I'd ask him to be more specific about what his high risk concerns are for your particular set of medical conditions.... I suspect that much of the risks revolve around not being a 'good doobie' and taking care of things the way you should.

Re: Recovery Time for Scrotum Removal AFTER Prior Orchiectomy?
I'm pleased to say that I finally seem to have stopped seeping blood/fluids, and no longer have to wear a gauze pad. It took a while to get there. To my surprise, I found out that much of the discomfort I was still feeling was actually caused by the gauze pad, though I'm still a bit tender. I'm continuing to be careful, reclining when able, sitting on a "donut" when I have to sit up, etc.
The one thing that I wonder/worry about a bit is the swelling. At first, there was much more swelling, and my (much shrunken post-orchiectomy) penis was totally buried. Now, the swelling has reduced to the point that the head sticks out and urination is easy. Still though, the whole area where the scrotum used to exist is still significantly swollen. Where I expected to end up with a smooth/flat area, I currently have a rather firm bulge, with tissue also still swollen up around the penis. I honestly don't remember now how long it took for swelling to completely go away after my orchiectomy, but I don't think it was this long. I'm 4 weeks post-scrotectomy, and I really hope things will settle down.

Re: Recovery Time for Scrotum Removal AFTER Prior Orchiectomy?
I had my orchiectomy 4/17/2023. And my scrotum removed 12/5/23. The orchie cost me about $600 out of pocket.
But my scrotum reduction was $5,000 no insurance. The healing time is much greater with the scrotum removal because of the concern about opening up the sutures near your tant area. She made it as tight as possible knowing it will stretch alittle once fully healed and I do stupid things over streaching the area. Its been 7 months and couldnt be happier with how the transition from my shaft to the tant area is just smooth as can be .i feel the area and just laugh on how I have no balls and it feels so wonderful. Any one on the fence get it done you wont regret it. Should go on a hormone regimen thou for your bone density health. Get a base line Dexa scan (measure bone density). So you can see if theres any decline in the future. If you choose Testosterone at first, you can get as hard as you want ejaculate very little clear fuild or dry. I switched to estrodial and am soft as can be. Some breast growth but not bad and they are sensitive. I can almost orgasm thru breast play. Clitoral masterbation and orgasming like a women is very very very pleasant. Almost no involuntary ejaculatory muscles at time of orgasm. Its full body. You want the Eunuch calm .dont do any hormones and youll never think of sex again..but still look at pretty women and appreciate them differently, not sexualizing them. My journey
