Estradiol

Post by 10yeareunuch (imported) »

Hey folks!

I need some advice as to whether or not to ask my urologist to prescribe estradiol to replace the testosterone that she currently prescribes.

After ten years being castrated by her, she has continually reduced my testosterone intake to counter my increasingly higher PDA score. It was only during a three-month period, when she told me to stop my injections altogether, did my score go back to just above normal levels. Even on a very low amount of testosterone my PSA number goes up.

I want to discuss with her possibly foregoing testosterone entirely and switching to a low dose of estradiol, to retain some degree of libido, for bone health and mental acumen, while lowering my PSA score further.

Those who have gone this route I would appreciate hearing from fellow members regarding their experiences on estradiol, either through a post here or by direct messaging me through this site . Thanks in advance!

I am on low dose of Estradiol after being on testosterone for years. I was finally castrated last October and have been on Estradiol since. Here is what has happened in my case. First my libido is still okay. I get turned on, however, erections are seldom and even then not total so my cock has measurably shrunk (a lot). Second I am slowly growing breast still small but obvious. Third, I never had a lot of body hair but what I had is either gone or become thinner and soft. Fourth, beard is still there and head hair is still shrinking because I am getting older but it is thinner and softer. Fifth, my weight hasn't changed but my shoulders and upper body seem thinner and my ass a little bigger. My mind maybe? from the hormones is different I think. I have a great desire to have my penis removed now. I have purchased some female clothes to wear. I am considering learning to apply makeup and buy a wig. To transition. Okay , Okay maybe those thoughts were there to start, but then again could be the estradiol hormones. Of course as has been said on the archive many times "individual mileage may vary"

Before I started this journey, my T was about 50% of normal, and I was on supplemental T gel to make up the difference for the past several years.

When I started they put me on Lupron shots for about 3-4 months, and started me on E patches after about the first month.

I'm currently on E patches (my doc's recommended form for it, she does NOT advise oral E, as you need more and it has significantly greater health risks) that gives me 0.15mg / day. I'm getting close to being on E for a year now.

No real idea what my PSA was before, but it was never mentioned as a problem, but the last test I had said it was nearly undetectable. Ditto my T level, even though in theory the adrenal glands are supposed to produce some, even in women.

I feel like I may have lost some muscle mass in my arms / shoulders, though this may also because I do less exercising than I should. My pants still fit OK, but I'm having trouble getting my legs (in my wheelchair) under tables that used to not be a problem.

My breasts have enlarged considerably, which I'm OK with, but not happy about, as I want to continue presenting as 'normal male' At this point (and I'm not expecting a lot more growth) they are big enough to fail the 'pencil test'. I'm very aware of them when I look down when naked. They aren't as obvious when I'm dressed and while I can see them when I look in a mirror, they aren't so big as to push outside the 'male range'.

Some of the bald spots I've had previously have partially filled in, but are still pretty thin. My beard and mustache don't seem to have changed much but are growing slower. My eyebrows seem to be growing more (go figure?) Pubic hair seems to grow back about as fast as I pluck it. Other body hair seems unchanged, except that if something happens to remove it, it seems VERY slow to come back if it does at all...

My penis has shrunk to the point where it's semi-internal, which is a real pain for catheterizing as I need to dig it out of hiding so I can stick the cath in... However my injury 13+ years ago left me with functional issues that made it frustrating to even attempt sexual activity, so I quit trying and it had become increasingly non-functional and shrinking even before I started on the E, so I can't really blame it on the E. My testicles / scrotum seem unchanged.

I generally feel a little bit more mellow, and am a bit less aggressive when driving, but it's hard to define and subtle. I do sometimes feel like I get more tongue-tied when talking but it's hard to define.

Because of the general sexual frustration caused by my SCI, I didn't have much of a functional libido - I sort of wanted to do (or fantasized about doing) things w/ attractive females, but wouldn't dream of actually doing unless she indicated mutual desire, and probably couldn't even if she did... Most of that has gone away and I'm happier w/out the desire. (I sometimes cuddle w/ the GF, less often than I'd like, but...)

Overall I'm quite happy with having made the switch from T->E and have no desire to go back. It also has always seemed to me a bit odd to want to get rid of the T factories but keep the T, but others feel differently which is totally their prerogative... I would emphasize that it is very much an individual choice and YMMV...

I did a six month trial run of estrogen last year and had a very similar experience to baldwin92. My thinking definitely expanded into new directions. Maybe the estrogen, but even after ending the estrogen experiment those thoughts/ideas remain.

Very interesting link to the article of EMMA MCKENNA

"Eunuch as a gender identity after castration"

2012, Journal of Gender Studies.

Here I found a large list of articles by famous scientists!
