Had a funny experiance yesturday (Saturday).

Had been out all morning and had a sleep on the lounge, when I woke I thought i had an errection which of course is imposible.

I put my hand down there and of course with no penis - no errection.

That happens with me, from time to time, even 8 years after I got rid of the pesky thing.

I've noticed over time it's not as frequent, but at the beginning a lot more. At this point with my body, I find it an interesting oddity more than anything. Though I do find it weird when I'm aroused that I can still feel my dick bounce when I move the muscles which did that, and I can also distinctly feel that area where the web of my scrotum met the underside of my dick, which is the only spot I really didn't have dysphoria over, so a welcome sensation.

I'm thinking in my case, my brain got rid of the parts it didn't like, and mapped out the parts it did.

It is called 'Phantom Limb Syndrome' and it's fairly common among amputees of any sort, though it's more commonly thought of in terms of arms and legs, etc rather than :dong:s, probably because its more common for those parts to go missing... They aren't sure exactly what causes it, or why it shows up differently in different people, but the general theory is that the brain has 'inputs' for signals from those parts, and when the part disappears the nerves and / or brain produce "noise" on those inputs that are interpreted as coming the missing limb....

Probably not the best analogy, but I think of it as a 'floating' signal input in an electronic circuit - it can be interpreted randomly and cause strange results.... (Which is why best practice is to add resistors to inputs that drag them to a known value in the absence of other desired signals...)

It is somewhat less common, but folks with complete (no motor / no sensation) SCI's have been known to experience phantom positioning inputs that don't have anything to do with where their limbs actually are...

I never had the feeling that LT mentioned, that my absent dick "jumps up" . Maybe because I did not have enough practice with it...

Sometimes when I was sleeping and I had a dream, for example, that I was looking for a toilet room for pissing, then I had a memory that it would be more convenient for me in this situation to have a penis...

I'd say you're pretty much spot-on with this assessment.

The bouncing dick signal with my body is unwanted, though I do enjoy when I feel the underside of my dick where the scrotum attached, signal. It's quite pleasurable, actually. But the bouncy dick thing... Ugh, go AWAY!

By coincidence I happened to read an article in "New Mobility" (a magazine for folks w/ SCI and other paralysis put out by the United Spinal Assoc.) about dream experiences of SCI folks...

Most seem to walk in their dreams, at least some of the time, but still find that even though their dream selves are walking, they encounter the same sorts of barrier issues that they do in their chairs, like not being able to climb stairs, or needing help getting up steep hills.... More than a few reported their walking dream selves having to search for an accessible restroom....
