Just a thought about why there is more gender problems and overactive libido issues.

In developed world

To be short, developed world lives in condition that is not natural to humans anymore. What is normal to humans, is a survival mode, hunger, every day difficulties with shelter, a lot of resources normally would go to just surviving and obtaining food. Homelessness would not have been possible in the past for example. You either find some way to survive or die. You just couldn't get food for free. Modern times you don't need to do any physical work to have plenty of food and shelter. Which means there is much more chances for LUST emotion-motivation system to become active. Which for some is expressed in overactive libido, which again could lead to various sexual deviations, mostly to various parafilias, and perhaps even to gender questioning, or lust that is related to that. That is just an assumption, I haven't find any researches regarding this topic. Or may be I have been lazy.

As in the past, when you needed to work a whole day, it did not left you much chances to have sex even with your wife, not speaking about masturbation. There was very little time allocated to LUST neural network. This might be the reason why masturbation in old times was considered harmful, as you needed time to recharge. It was felt like lost energy and time for much more practical issues in life.

Libido was always there, it's the basic natural drive to ensure reproduction of any species. Whathever the difficulty human kind were facing there was always a little time for this. Maybe as you said not so for lust basically.

But it should be taking into consideration that throughout humanity history, life condition were very variable and libido was also according to.

Anthropologist consider that when humans were before the agricultural time just chassing and picking nuts and fruits they were in much better health compare to the periods where they start growing wheat per say. We should be aware that our experience of nature today has nothing to do with the nature those humans were living in. Our forest are some kind of depleated of life compare to what they were. It's thoussand of years of exploitation that reduce the diversity. And it's really worse now a days. As a simple example I'll take the lobster. Today we need boat trips and cages to catch them but in the first half of the 20th century on the east coast of Canada and US you just had to walk a little bit in the close shore water (quite cold) bent and pick up a big lobster. At that time almost no one was eating that. Farmer took those lobster to compost them in their garden. If we could pick lobsters like that 70 years ago we just can't imagine what nature was able to give us 15,000 years ago. And maybe with so much food there was time for intercourse and masturbation which was banned mostly for religious reasons to control behaviour in populations and by those who feed on power trip.

Seems every time frame, and generation has many common problems, as you mention.

They just seem more common now because we have not lived in past time and we can only evaluate such issues that existed within our liifetime.

And such issues would be different in different cultures so all is relative.
