Gender Census 2023
The annual survey run by Cassian Lodge is now open for 2023. If you think you do not fit into the gender binary, please complete this survey. Last year we had some good eunuch representation. Get out there and be counted!
https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/GenderCensus2023/
"Welcome to the tenth annual gender census!
I'll start by making it as clear as possible who's invited to take part.
As far as we know, most people fit tidily into one of these categories:
- Woman/girl - all the time, solely, and completely (may be cisgender or transgender)
- Man/boy - all the time, solely, and completely (may be cisgender or transgender)
This survey intends to collect information about everyone who DOESN'T fit into this system. Anyone who doesn't feel like they fit into one of these two boxes is invited to participate. There are no geographical restrictions.
If you hesitate or struggle to place yourself into just one of the two boxes, or if you know for sure that these boxes were not made for you, please do continue!"

Re: Gender Census 2023
Done. A strange thing to think about how people should address yourself. A complete life as always a man but now mixing masculine and feminine gender expression the Mr still prevail. Although at the grocery store a few week ago while I was in skirt a man from my back call me madam. From his expression I think he did it on purpose but I didn't feel insulted. It is his f... problem.

Re: Gender Census 2023
I did the survey also. In the comments at the end, I suggested that next time they should acknowledge "eunuch" among the gender choices listed in the first question of the survey since eunuchs are literally an official gender according to WPATH SOC-8.

Re: Gender Census 2023
Just got a post in my email with a Day 10 Progress Report - quoted below as best I could copy it over... Note the groups they would like to see more represented and spread the word if you can...
WheelyCurious
TL;DR: Do you know anyone who might be interested in participating? Please feel free to forward this email!
We're 10 days into this year's annual survey, with almost 26,000 participants from 118 countries. We've also got about 550 new followers on Tumblr, and about 1,000 new subscribers to the mailing list. (Hi, new people!)
Here's how participation this year compares to the last two surveys:
Graph. Title: Day by day comparison of participation 2021-2023. Horizontal axis, days up to around 33. Vertical access, running total of participants, up to 50,000. Lines on the graph all ascend sharply in the first week and then gradually flatten towards the end of the graph. 2021 ends at around 44,000, and 2022 ends at around 40,000. 2023 is incomplete, currently ending on day 10, with about 26,000.
Participation is starting to slow, which means that we're reaching the limits of the Gender Census social media bubble. The next 3 weeks is more work, but more worth it, as we work to bring in respondents outside of the well-represented demographics. We're looking to decrease these percentages, by inviting people of diverse ages, nationalities, and internet abilities:
From the USA (56%)
Aged 30 and younger (83%)
Found the survey via Tumblr (43%) and Discord (18%)
(You can spy on incoming participation demographics here.)
Those of you who've been following the project for a few years will know that the over-30s aren't as visible in the survey, just because younger people use the internet (and especially social media) a lot more. That's where you come in!
Over-30s are at the moment mostly finding the survey through Facebook, this mailing list, the Fediverse (Mastodon, etc) and one-on-one word-of-mouth. Here's some ways you can easily spread the word:
Forward this email to someone you think might be into it
Share this post on the Fediverse
Send the survey URL to anyone anywhere: https://survey.gendercensus.com
WhatsApp seems to work quite well, because you can send one-on-one or in a group, or all at once, and recipients can easily forward it on to others.
Print the flyers and put them on tables in social centres, in indie bookshops, on LGBTQ+ group tables, or in zine/Etsy/eBay envelopes and parcels.
At the moment it's looking like the survey will probably climb to about 30,000 participants before it closes on or shortly after 9th May, but our previous record is a little over 44,000. Any and all retweets and reblogs are also very much appreciated.
And finally! If you would like to hitch yourself to the Gender Census Patreon page so that you automatically donate a few £/$/€ next year, please feel free - and thanks to many lovely people we are pretty well-funded! So if you would additionally/instead like to donate to a potentially very influential legal case that could force the British government to start issuing nonbinary gender recognition certificates (implications: huge!!!), I strongly recommend backing Ryan Castellucci's legal crowdfunder, because they're single-handedly taking on the Entire UK Government. What a legend.
Thank you everyone for your support! I'll email again when there's only a couple of days left to do the survey, and then again when the results report is up, and then that'll be it from me until 2024.
Take care of yourselves.
