Hot Flashes

Post by Fireangel017 (imported) »

As I repeatedly read and heard about the phenomena of "hot flashes" after losing your testosterone production as well as going without HRT substitution I always imagined it as something like blushing or getting hot flashes into or around your head (maybe even a bit connected to high blood pressure or rising emotions) ...

Can some others here who already experienced and know this phenomena themselves please specify it a little more in detail.

Can there also be sudden "hot flashes" to arms or legs ... or something like "warmth" (feeling like warm liquid) being spilled over a leg for a quite short moment ...?!?

Thx for clarifying this more precisely ...!

For me, I can wake up perspiring and feeling overheated even if the room is a comfortable temperature.

I started on the T reduction route (w/ Lupron injections) about the same time that our home's AC died, so not sure if it was a hot-flash, or just hot, but I basically felt WAY hotter than normal, and was dripping sweat... Happened a couple of times, and then went away....

From what I've heard, this is more common than what FireAngel is describing - however like much else it is very much a 'Your Mileage WILL Vary' thing...

Probably everyone who has had experienced that phenomena, have different experiences.

It is known fact that sudden drop in T levels breaks your temperature regulation system. Which means the body temperature range where you feel normal gets very narrow. If temperature goes higher you will feel hot and start to sweat, and when it drops below that range you start to shiver. For me it was exactly like that. If I did some harder work, I started to sweat quickly heavily. At sleep it was difficult to keep my body temperature at that range and it ended always waking up all wet. And when I cooled down too quickly I often started to shiver.

My morning coffee usually triggered a hot flash. It started as a warm feeling on my back and then I felt hot all over my body and started to sweat. Like in sauna. But there were completely random hot flashes as well. Like just talking to my friend I feel my back getting warm and that warmth expanding all over my body and pretty quickly my face became sweaty and may be even red. I felt so hot, and without any obvious reason.

Castrated nearly 3 weeks ago, and currently not on TRT, I have hot flashes, mostly in the evening. It’s like some one really turned up the heat in the room, like a lot. Thankfully the hot flashes only lasts 5-10 minutes, but when they hit, it’s beyond annoying!

My way of handling them is simply to go outside (it’s still pretty cold where I live so it’s a blessing) wearing only a t shirt and a pair of shorts, that usually does the trick, couple of minutes, then I can step back inside, until the next one hits me.

Besides that I’m enjoying the Eunuch calm from not having testosterone besides what the adrenals produce.

All I will offer is... If you THINK you're having a hot flash, YOU are NOT having a hot flash.

For me when I started getting to 5 months after my orchiectomy I would just get warm all over and start sweating. I would have them when I sleep, waking up two to three times a week drenched in sweat.

Of course one can also apply the wisdom of some of my Wiccan friends... They aren't "hot flashes" they are POWER SURGES😄

In my opinion, it is not dangerous.

You can just ignore it.

The body will adapt itself, the mechanisms of self-regulation will work.
