Genital modifications panelist at CLAW 23

Post by keyman419 (imported) »

Since my genital nullification surgery in Nov of 2019, a great amount of information about my mods, reasons, and outcomes have been shared. It has always been my intent to assist the community with information about the pros and cons of body modifications, including castration. Many folks simply disappear once their goals are realized but that doesn't always help the community to grow with good information. I have requested and been accepted as an educational presenter at CLAW, Cleveland Leather Annual Weekend, (in Cleveland oddly enough) for this year's event on April 6-9, 2023. The class will be presented on Sat at 11am in one of the education classrooms for a 90 minute education session. I have a well-known kink professional from the psychology community joining me to discuss aspects from a professional provider side.

We will discuss body modifications, kink, personal motivations, dangers, long term care, mental health, and related ideas. It will NOT discuss any 'underground' or DIY methods but rather constructive information on how to address the topic in the professional medical community and personal reflection and motivations. This is NOT a 'show and tell' experience but rather an educational experience about the goals and motivations for such mods to deliver needed information to others, mainly kink and leather enthusiasts, who may be considering castration or body mods for themselves or their sub. It will also NOT cover trans issues. I would like to know if there are any members of this community who has body modifications; castration, nullification, amputations, or similar, who may be or wish to attend CLAW and would like to participate in this class with me to discuss their personal experiences and motivations. A neutered puppy would be ideal but that's not the only option.

This will be my first attempt at this type of training. I am preparing a course outline and presentation to guide things along. If things go well, this topic may be repeated at future events. If you have interest in joining this discussion, please contact me via PM so we can begin to talk from there. CLAW will provide admission discounts to valid presenters if I'm able to obtain 1 or 2 more participants. Travel and lodging are on your own for the event. If you are attending CLAW and wish to join the class, check out your program for the location once finalized. You can find more information about CLAW by doing a search for 'clawinfo' and adding a dot org. The course has not yet been published on the website pending my final approval to proceed.

I have given such a discussion at a similar but not as large event 5 years ago. The event was only about 300 people in total, and I'd say 50 of the attendees came to my chat, which given only 300 total at the event, was well attended.

I'd expect yours to be well attended as well, as folks like you and I are becoming more common to "run into" once in a while. Expect the questions to run the gamut from "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?!??!" to actual, true interest and information gathering.

I'd attend, but I'll opt out to maintain my anonymity in other community related pursuits. I do think your program is important all the same, as it gives a chance for those folks who are curious to ask questions without having to approach us directly outside of an open forum. My advice would be to ensure you're maintaining focus on the subject more broadly, IE be open to discussing deeper than your specific 'brand' of nullification, as there exist folks who experience this differently than you or I, and their experiences are just as valid.

I've found folks do want to ask these questions. My forum was as respectful as I think it could be given the environment a few years ago. I think the biggest thing you can help dispel is the idea that we are not male. I've found one of the more routine questions is, "Are you planning to become a female?" I think it comes from that's all society has known to this point, in a meaningful way, about males who wish to remove their genitals in whole or part. Most of us wish to remain otherwise male, and I think people who encounter us don't realize that. However, some of us do not wish that, and that's why I recommended keeping your mind open to discussing the various aspects of where folks who do this, can end up as their destination.

"CLAW" - in my humble opinion, this is a somewhat unfortunate abbreviation for your event :).

It's purposely called CLAW. It's been an event here in the US for years.
