Less opportunity for an accidental and unintentional cut to be made. During a castration, if a patient moves significantly, with as sharp as scalpels are you could end up with a significant laceration on adjacent tissues, and we all know what is adjacent.
The same can be done with a spinal block, which is what Dr Aguilar used when I had my scrotum removed. I was wide awake the entire time, but immobile from the waist down. I wish I understood Spanish so I could have listened to the chit-chat between the doctors
