Just because it's not part of WPATH doesn't mean the surgeries can't continue. The way I understand it, WPATH just publishes the official Standards of Care for the Health of Transsexual, Transgender, and Gender Nonconforming People. But individual doctors and surgeons can decide how they choose to practice. That's why Davis, Crane, and others are already performing nullification surgeries and have been long before the WPATH SOC 8 was even talked about.
My point is, it's still VERY possible for you to achieve...and right now. You don't need WPATH approval or even their SOC. I'm gonna be honest and blunt, the only thing you need is to be honest with two doctors, preferably a psychiatrist or a psychologist and a therapist. They will write you two letters. Those letters will go to the surgeon you decide on. You do a consultation, typically online if the surgeon is far away, or in person if they are close by. Insurance will do their thing (it takes forever) and then you are scheduled. Pre-op is typically two-to-three weeks prior to surgery. Pre-op is pre-game. Surgery is game day.
At the consultation, be frank, don't leave anything out, tell them what you want. If they can do it, they will let you know. You will know if you are in a good setting or not. I did a couple consultations before I felt comfortable.
Do. Your. Research. Reddit is an excellent source for people who have had any and all bottom surgeries (top surgeries too, but that's a different discussion for a different person, but just sayin'). You wouldn't think it, but it is. TransBucket literally shows you their work, as does Reddit. If you think something is off or people say "I had a bad experience", take that into account.
Just because a place doesn't advertise that they perform Nullification, doesn't mean they don't. Where I am going, it's not advertised and that's intentional because of the current climate toward Trans and Non-Binary folks. Call and ask. Yes, that means making phone calls. But, that's their job, they hear this everyday and they will ask who it's for and you say "myself", it puts them at ease, again because of the current climate.
There is a list that I am aware of that I would be happy to share with you, if you'd like. But, no, you don't have to wait for WPATH to start your journey.
