This is pretty much how I feel about it. Calling yourself a eunuch or nullo when you've not had the surgery is insulting to those of us who have had it. I know there are people out there doing that who are serious and will one day get it done, but until you've made that irreversible commitment to have the body parts in question removed, I feel you've not earned the right to call yourself that.
This is why I feel on more comfortable ground with the word Spado... my testes are so bad I've been signed off sick since October 2021 because of them... but the damned things are still there. In 2020 I paid and was consented for surgery, but some bigot at the hospital hosting the operation vetoed it at the last minute and I was refunded. So I have a signed consent form... might get it framed as a souvenir of the long fight for treatment! Not sure if that qualifies as <irreversible commitment>, but certainly demonstrates seriousness.
I think the word eunuch will hit difficulties with the SoC 8 attaching it to gender identity, in that gender identity can obtain in a person prior to affirmative surgery... so the category is likely to be seen as less like a physiological category.
Either way, glad to be in the community generally.
