For those with gynecomastia, when to cover up the breasts on beaches or pools

I have mild gynecomastia and large and supple nipples. When should we cover up the breast in public pools and beaches (not referring to clothing optional places)?

Never, as far as my attitude is concerned. I have seen men with extreme gynecomastia and none of them covered their breasts or nipples. Only if someone feels insecure can they wear a T-shirt, and there are tops to buy that swimmers use. They look like compression shirts.

My sister-in-law felt my boobs up at a cruise ship beach in the Caribbean right in front of everyone including my wife. The guy next to her was shocked. I softened the moment by saying, "You gotta seize the moment when you can".

Needless to say, I enjoyed my wife and sister-in-law as well as the guy... first noticing my boobs only to be topped when complimented.

The GF and I once spent a weekend at a naturist resort, and while hanging out in the pool there was a fair bit of joking about 'GIRLancy' and how it greatly reduced the amount of effort needed for treading water... It was much more effective than buoyancy...

Thanks for all the inputs. I was quite happy with them and, being a nudist, had no problem showing them. However, my physical therapist seems to be embarrassed by them, and she kept pulling my rope to cover them up while working on my painful shoulder. I didn't think I was that big, other than the nipples, which are so sensitive and scrumptious. It's good to read from you all that, the way it sounds, it is my PT's problem seeing my small boobs. Nothing to hide for me. Thanks!

I suspect it isn't your boobs, it is more the general thing that seems to run through the medical profession as a general pattern... I know that I don't have anything that rates more coverage than a standard issue male, but I know that every medical person I've dealt with has always been far more concerned about keeping me covered up than I was... This is despite my often repeated comments that I wasn't worried or concerned about it.

I'd lay odds that the PT would be trying to cover you up even if you were totally flat chested....

Just before lockdown I went swimming at the local pool and was told to cover up by the staff. I was wearing bikini bottoms as I have since childhood but I'd never been challenged before.

Very calmly I asked to meet with him and the shift manager and went to the office with a t-shirt on. The manager was a female and asked to see what the issue was, as soon as I took my t-shirt off the staff guy was dismissed and I was told that my nipples were now obviously female and my breasts were large enough to draw attention. Utterly professional she then said that swimming unsupported wouldn't be good as the slightest knock would really hurt.

I just went home and found the top piece and had a good swim. A bonus was getting an extra session for free.

It's not always about size or presentation. As a MtF in transition it would happen at some stage once I started the hormones and, to be honest, I was a little happy that the moment arrived. Never mentioned was that my crotch is pretty flat and will be more so when I get an orchie. I can't wait. I think the overall impression given was 'presenting female' hence the reaction. It says something that nobody has ever commented about a guy wearing a bikini, not even young kids who question everything.

Not to surprised that they never questioned the bikini bottom, as there really isn't that much difference between 'butt floss' for him vs. her, and bathing suits are one of the few articles of clothing where a guy can get away w/ 'feminine' patterns / colors of fabric... So really not a lot of difference as long as they fit properly and don't allow the package to escape....

Sounds to me like the pool manager handled it pretty well, and I'm glad you were OK with the outcome.
