How do you pronounce "Orchiectomy" ?

One of those questions that a person feels silly asking.

At long last, I'll be talking to a psychologist in the next few days on the subject of the removal of my testicles. I prefer to use the term "orchiectomy" which sounds much more civilized than "castration". I've looked everywhere and can't find out whether the "ch" is pronounced as in "church" or like "k" and I don't want to sound like a dork. So, please tell me, how is it pronounced?

I have never had to pronounce the word "orchiectomy".

For me, the word "nullification" is much easier to pronounce .

I changed my mind: "ch" as in church.

Perhaps this sounds more correct .

I've been pronouncing it with a "k" lately in my discussion's with my therapist.

Definitely with a "K" sound. I've always pronounced it that way. To be sure, I looked it up in a medical dictionary -- K sound.

Yeah, I figured it was a 'k' sound like in orchid. But me being somewhat obsessive, I didn't want to get off on the wrong foot.

I did check a couple of online dictionaries, but they didn't list the word at all. I usually check the Merriam Webster online, but I guess I missed it this time.

IIRC, what I used when searching for the results I posted earlier was "Orchiectomy definition", and those were the first two entries that gave pronunciation guides... I found it sort of ironic that there were lots of medical references, and Wikipedia that defined the word, but did NOT specify pronunciation

A few did mention the synonym 'orchidectomy' (also with a 'k') but not all.
