Hair Removal
Can anyone give advice on laser hair removal versus electrolysis?
A number of years ago I had laser hair removal in NYC. There were very little to no results.
I contacted a place in NJ about electrolysis. The owner was very nice and said that she and no one she knows is doing electrolysis treatment on the genital area and suggested laser hair removal.
I told about having it done in NYC and she said that the standards in NY state were not as good as in NJ and that I should find a medical doctor to do laser in NJ.
I contacted a surgeon in NJ who does non-binary vaginoplasties. His office does laser but is moving that service from NJ to NYC which made me question the validity of the service.
I don't know what to do at this point.
Thanks for any advice.

I just did a standard Google search "electrolysis genital hair removal NYC" and this business (https://www.rainbowelectrolysis.com/tra ... olysis-nyc), this business (https://topelectrolysisnyc.com/transgen ... moval-nyc/), and this business (https://electrolysisbrooklyn.com/hair-r ... ender.html) were the first three listed.
I can't speak to these businesses customer satisfaction ratings or anything else (I live in Virginia), I just did the Google search.

Re: Hair Removal
No experience with either, though I've been looking into it to some degree. What I've seen on laser is that results can vary a lot depending on skin and hair color.... The darker the hair and the lighter the skin the better it is supposed to work. If the hair is light it doesn't absorb enough heat from the laser to effectively kill the follicles. If the skin is to dark it heats up excessively and can end up seriously damaged... SP didn't say what his coloration was like, but this may be worth considering....
Given the costs of professionals, I suspect I'll be more likely to get an epilator, especially since the areas I'd be most interested in cleaning up are below my injury level and consequently less pain sensitive....

Re: Hair Removal
I have never kept my hair on my body. Hoored the matter with a razor and epilator for a long time. 2017 I'm looking for a permanent network of a network. I found a laser hair removal. I went about 10 times and I liked the results. Only pay for an unbelievable lot.
After that I've been to IPL's hair removal. The results are otherwise satisfactory but requires active action. Can not say that it would be a question of a permanent result. However, there is a lot of pareni than before the laser.
I am from hairless bits down. I tried in the fall of waxing and sugar, I loved the feeling when I was smooth and soft. The laser and the IPL power depends on a lot of hair darkness. I think that the author's professional skill is also crucial to the results.
It was not really easy to find who would make a man for a hair removal in a genital area and it is also an area that apparently is the hardest to get permanent results

Re: Hair Removal
Ive been completely hairless for close to 20 years.
While I shaved most of the time, I did use an IPL serval times, with many full body sessions. Its unfortunate that IPL has yet to prove to be 100% effective, as each session was about three hours of getting zapped by electricity.
Ever since switching from herbal estrogen to HRT, Ive been hair free for the last two years. I absolutely love it.
Good Luck.

Re: Hair Removal
IPL doesn't do much for testosterone grown hair. Most males will need at least 12 sessions to get most facial hair with a good alexandrite or YAG laser and 6+ sessions on other parts of the body. Check out groupon.com for some package deals. Just make sure what kind of laser they have and tell them you want to use as high of a setting as possible.

Re: Hair Removal
I had my body hair laser removed in 2008/2009. took several sessions over months. Yes it does not always remove light colored hair and once it a while as I have gotten older a few grey hairs pop out. And since hair must be in growth stage when lasered (the reason so many sessions) and always around 10 percent of your hair is in dormant stage the laser will miss a few. So once in a while an individual dark hair pops out. but a quick razor takes those off since there is just one in a area. Anyway, I would recommend laser removal anytime.

Re: Hair Removal
Some time in the past I spent a LOT on lasering, also in NYC, and also had little to know results. I am thinking of trying again with more modern equipment, hoping it will be more effective. I did a trial of some electrolysis too and found it even less effective (EVERY hair came back ingrown).
I'm actually trying to find a place in NJ now myself. But I am starting to wonder if a male technician would be less afraid of using more aggressive settings. I don't think the lasering really damaged the hair follicles. I think it just made them dormant for a brief time. Certainly looking for more information and the same options.

Re: Hair Removal
This is something I'm looking into. I'm in Virginia (70 miles west of DC, about 110 miles from UVA/Charlottesville), but getting anyone to file with my insurance (which will cover it) is like pulling teeth. Anyone know any place in the DC/Charlottesville/Harrisonburg, VA area that does laser hair removal?
Also, which is better, laser or electrolysis?
