Over the years, the topic of stories on the Fiction Archive which involve minor-aged characters has been a point of contention with some members.
It’s no secret that the Eunuch Archive is based in the USA. The age of 18 is the recognized age limit for someone to no longer be considered a legal minor. Other countries differ.
However, we strive to comply with the laws of the USA.
Text-only works are currently legal under USA law. If you are unsure as to the law in your own country, please look it up. That’s your responsibility – NOT ours!
As we all know, not every story appeals to every reader. There are “gay-themed” fans, and there are “straight-themed” fans. It only follows that not everyone is a fan of “minor-themed” stories.
This is why we (namely Bella!) try so hard to make sure that stories involving minors as the main protagonists are labeled “minor” in the tags. We understand that not everyone wants to read those stories.
An academic article soon to be published (accepted, but not yet in print) analyses the 100 Eunuch Archive stories that have received the most 5-star votes. The article notes that, before Male-to-Female surgery became accepted, a common theme in MtF fiction was the “hero” being forced to transition. The hero gained his real desire without seeming to seek it. What he really wanted was “forced” upon him and he then bore little or no personal responsibility for gaining it. This would make his transition more socially acceptable.
A survey of EA members who have already been castrated asked that, if they were to live their lives over, at what age would they want to have been castrated. Over a quarter of them chose age 12 or younger. Half of those already castrated wished that they had been castrated by age 18. To that extent, the Fiction Archive reflects the real desires of the community in that 43 of the top 100 ranked stories involved minors (although a far lower percentage of the Archive stories as a whole do). The minor at the center of the story receives what the author may have wanted for himself, but there was no way to receive it in society. We are unlikely to ever again have normalized castration of minors, but there will always be individuals who wish it had happened to themselves and who produce fiction about their desire.
This is the main reason that we accept fiction involving minors. Our reasoning is that it is therapeutic, and in the cases where it might cause sexual arousal, then the readers/writers are not out there bothering real minors when they are sitting at home reading and writing about it.
We have had this discussion before, and it is not the purpose of this post to have this discussion again. This thread is locked to replies from non-Administrators, and we are not going to discuss the topic again here. Also, we are not currently planning to remove or edit any stories already posted.
The purpose of this thread is to inform all EA Members that there will be a minor (no pun intended) change to our policy regarding acceptance of stories with minor-aged protagonists, also known as “our hero” of the story. Such stories will now be under more careful content review.
From now on, when a story involving minors is sent in to [email protected] it will be read by Bella first. It will then be forwarded to me for review and approval for posting. If there is still any question regarding the content of said work, it will be forwarded to Kristoff (the Nun) for further review.
Edits will be suggested to the author for rejected works. The author should keep a copy of their work, as copies will not be sent back.

As of this date, I will going over them once again as well.
Our decision here is based largely upon the growing scrutiny of media content at large, and not just here at The Eunuch Archive.
