The first impression is that this is a sanatorium for eunuchs: clean, comfortable, attentive staff . It's a pity, I'm not the age to be there.

I like the boys Sam, Cheng and Joey, with whom Michael ended up in the same "holiday ward". They greeted Michael in a friendly manner.

Of course, this is a thriller. The tension will build as the shocking circumstances surrounding the methods of influencing adolescents are revealed ...

Ames was being pretty hard on Michael with the punishment when I saw him last. Poor kid. It’s not like he did anything wrong by askin’. All he wanted to do was be alone so he could cry.

Ames couldn’t tolerate a great deal of things, and ‘faggots,’ as he called them, were very near the top of his list.

Ames had beaten Michael that day, after catching him wandering the halls alone. Ames had done something to him to cause the angry red welts on his head, probably electro-shock. And when he had finished with him, he had brought him to ICU and ordered his castration with the rest of his treatment.

I admire the work of Linda Johnson. She reports the incident, seeks to obtain reliable information, involving specialists Jason Means and Max Garrison. She eventually awakens a sense of conscience in Lawrence Taft.

Bolton, a guard and ex-inmate, knows that gay boys are often punished and those who have been castrated sometimes die.

Ned is no longer able to hide his concerns about Michael's health from Bolton.

Ames openly lies, speaking to the camera: "I can assure you, and the public, Ms. Johnson, that nothing unsavory is going on inside of IO and what is being done for the unfortunate boys therein is in their best interest and absolutely for their own good."

Linda Johnson interviews Erik Anderson, who is blinded as a result of abuse at IO.

We seem to see the film and in a series of rapidly developing events, I tried to note some characteristic moments, shots.

Taft: "Send fire and police to the residence of the IO parolee from tonight’s news NOW! I believe there’s about to be an attempt on his life."

Taft handed Linda Jones a briefcase.

"What’s this?" she demanded.

"Your Pulitzer Prize, Ms. Johnson," he said flatly.

The documents and records in the briefcase were enough to keep her media crew and Federal Agent Skinner busy for days.

Bolton: "Ames was a prisoner in here from age 15 to 21? We was BOTH on the graduate/career list together! Hell, we was roomies for 4 years at the end!"

Ned glanced at Joey, who rightfully shouldn't even exist if Ames had spent time in IO in his youth.

Ned: "Now, Bolton, why don’t YOU tell ME about Ames and what HE did?"

Abrupt anti-Utopia!

In order not to break the pace of the story, the author sometimes did not provide details about some of the characters.

This society brutalizes teenagers often punish the innocent. Decisions are made on the basis of personal gain, bypassing existing rules. Justice can triumph only sometimes thanks to the active action of certain good characters.

Bolton promised to tell Ned about Joey's father and the time he spent with him as a prisoner in IO. But we never heard these details. The reader can only guess and assume, but it seems to me unethical to comment here, since the author previously did not consider it necessary to do it himself.

Ames was a prisoner between the ages of 15 and 21.

His father, Dr. Frederick Ames - chief of medical staff at IO said:

"Castration will be for your own good, son...".

The practice of routine castration or penectomy had been his idea.

Thus, it is clear where Ames' cruelty towards everyone stemmed from after he became Mr. Ames, the director of the IO Center.

Those who put Ames in this post paid the price. Lawrence Taft committed suicide when he realized the governor would blame him for everything. Governor Francis Banner was shot by Skinner when Banner reached into his pocket during his arrest (Skinner had a reflex to the detainee's possible resistance).

The repeatability and stability of many phenomena suggests that the universe has had many trials and attempts for self-organization and creation of living nature, life. Of course, temporal processes are cyclical, and the so-called "arrow of time" is not always directed in one direction. Thus, for different observers, time flows, as it were, backward?

It is not known at all whether a living person can make time travel. Science fiction writers step into the unknown explore the effects of such travel.

Time Machine - the Temporal Imaging Viewer is by no means compact and consumes an eerie amount of electricity. Human intervention in natural phenomena, as almost always, is very dangerous even for himself! Even observing the events of the past was a disaster for the engineer Kaelen Laws.

Engineer Kaelen was stumped. He practically disappeared from reality, and his existence was preserved in the memory of the computer of the time machine. He cannot leave the observation room, but he can travel through time.

In the fourth chapter, a sci-fi story about a time machine turns into an oriental-style fabulous extravaganza.

Kaelen knows that once in the past, he will certainly change the present, in which the time machine is located and works, with his active actions. However, he has the ability to maintain communication with the computer, thanks to which he will adjust his actions so that changes are minimal and acceptable.

The plot develops very dramatically. Every step Kaelen takes is associated with a mortal risk for him. For example, in the end he may simply be robbed, killed. The computer is not able to help him in such a situation ...

An ingeniously written modern fairy tale, reminiscent of history in the style of the collection "One Thousand and One Nights".

The relationship between Kaelen and Tal, their conversation about the most important things touches me to tears. Paolo is an amazing writer!

The time traveler tries to treat the natives with delicacy, tries not to shock them with his "magical" capabilities. The author clearly shows that the most important "weapon" of the traveler is knowledge and compassion. Tal is imbued with complete confidence in Kaelen, becomes his true friend.

I really liked that Kaelen took care of Tal and even stayed in his time.

The fifth chapter of this fantasy novel has a very mysterious ending (two points - see below).

However, this often happens in this genre of literature. Naturally, the reader is intrigued and longs for the author to continue the story.

Kaelen: "He would change history again, this time in the form of his Great-Nephew - a boy he knew that he would not live long enough to know."

Kaelen's thoughts drifted ahead in time and he spoke the name of the boy that would eventually descend from HIM in this time frame - another boy who would change history - "Bagoas," - he whispered.

This modern science fiction work is eminently cinematic. In my humble opinion, it can only be compared with such a well-known franchise as Stargate, which is already considered a classic of science fiction in cinematography.

I love how the writer sets the stage. Recently nullo'ed Garrett is coming to grips with what's been done to him. I can empathize with how he must feel.

Even if he wanted to be castrated and went through a year long process before having the operation it'd still be emotionally wrenching. He's having second thoughts. Well so would I if I were in his shoes! I can se myself in his place.

The set up with Dale, his mom's boyfriend and potential stepdad, is also great. Dale restores classic cars so he both understands the past and he's concerned about appearances.

Therefore he'll be fully aware of just how radical Garrett's change is and will be interested in his new look.

The fact that Dale might just be "interested" in the new eunuch adds to the suspense. Will mom's boy friend take liberties with Garrett and if so how will the little eunuch react? Will he decide that Dale isn't so bad after all?

Peter is a character we've never previously encountered in the EA (at least not so far as I know). He's vulnerable and cries when upset but at the same time he's a fashion trend setter. Just the idea if him in his half mask but "dressing" for dinner by putting on a bow tie is hot.

Sorry to say I didn't care for 16 year old big brother Ethan. Big brother isn't a tease he's a cruel bully who torments Dale over being castrated. This makes no sense.

We are lead to believe that Dale's nullification was a carefully planned event and the final go-ahead was a family decision with every member in agreement.

Surely Ethan would have been made aware that there were boundaries that he couldn't cross and that his mom and Dale would enforce those limits.

The idea of having a year of counseling, classes, psychological evaluation, tests and play dates with same age eunuchs before castration is a great idea.

I don't think anyone, especially not 12 year olds, should rush into being castrated. A year spent to fully understand the challenges of being a eunuch sounds about right to me.

But then we learn that in Bayview, a destination easily reached by car, kids of any age can be nullified as walk-ins no parents required and no questions asked.

Why would any kid wait a full year if hitch-hiking, or a bus ride, would get him to a place where he could be castrated same day and free of charge?

There would probably be good Samaritans cruising the highways leading to Bayview just hoping to give runaway kids a lift to the castration clinic. **

The original author is a bishop who wrote this text in the early 12th century. It was written as a gift for his brother, who was a eunuch and a cleric at Hagia Sophia.
