Hey everyone,
I made it through the process of getting Dr. Movagharnia's approval, I am scheduled for castration and scrotum removal on 1-26-2022. Because of my age (74) he required I get an EKG and letter from a Cardiologist that I was healthy enough for surgery. The Dr. certainly has a few hurdles with a letter to him and about 6 pages of forms to fill out, but it has not been all that bad of a process really. I like that he seems to be very thorough. The castration doesn't worry me as much as the scrotum removal, not sure why except the scrotum is more visible afterwards and balls will be gone. The cost will be $4,800 to him for Orchi and scrotum removal and an addition $3,500 for the surgery center and anesthesiologist. I need to see him the day before the surgery to discuss everything.
The worst thing for me is I live 7 hours driving time away. So will need to stay three nights in hotel, two before surgery and one night after, then drive home.
I will post on here how it goes on or around the 28th of this month after I am home. Then I will post again a few weeks later after recovery.
Anyone know about Dr. Movagharnia in Atlanta doing castrations?

very jealous. I'm planning on getting an orchi in Thailand this year myself, with Dr. Movagharnia as a back up option (though I am exploring the possibility of Australia at the moment cause I live in New Zealand)

Re: Anyone know about Dr. Movagharnia in Atlanta doing castrations?
Here is what happen. I went to Atlanta and met with Dr. Movagharnia on Tuesday 1-25-22. My surgery was schedules for the next day. As I have said before he is VERY thorough which is a good thing. When I told him that I would drive home the day after the surgery, he said I cannot do the surgery and let you drive the next day. It would take 7 hours of driving for me to get home and he said that would be too dangerous on several levels. It would likely lead to a build-up of fluids which could rupture the stitches and I could not be taking pain medications and driving anyway. Unless I had someone to drive he could not allow it. Even if I had a driver, he would prefer me not make that long of a trip for 3 or 4 days. So, I had to cancel the surgery and I will try to reschedule with more time and a driver to bring me home. I do not fault him; I should have had my visit with him further in advance so I could have been prepared better. His staff were very apologetic for the miscommunications about my intentions to drive home. I had said that my wife would be with me, but I had failed to mention that we would be in separate cars.

Oh no. How disappointing. Hope you manage to get it sorted out. I know I had a castration appointment with Dr Arnkof, and said he would not allow me to drive back to Chicago for 48 hrs, his main concern being DVT.

For at least a day or two, it can be very painful just trying to get out of your bed. The groin is connected to the stomach. You use your stomach muscles to get up. It's best to have a place where you can just rest for a couple of days. And try not to move around too much. Pain pills don't help with moving around.
If you strain that area, it can pop one of the vessels that were tied off in the cords. That happened to me, and I had a terrible (small apple size) hematoma. It took weeks for it to drain. My cord started to heal attached to my stitched. The cord was filled with blood. After about 3 weeks, my stitches reopened so that the cord could drain. I was on a plane a couple weeks later and suddenly, my underwear was wet with black blood. I had to pack my underwear with absorbent pads for a week. Finally, the stitches closed again.
This is rare. However, it's more likely to happen if you are active and you strain the area by activating the muscles in your groin too much.
On top of that, no one should be driving on pain pills.

Re: Anyone know about Dr. Movagharnia in Atlanta doing castrations?
I had been through 4 surgeries previously, one knee, three lower back surgeries and made do with only tramadol and Tylenol for the pain. However, when the doctor told me he could not do the surgery without me resting for 3 to 4 days before attempting to travel 7 hours home, I was surprised but did not second guess him. I readily agreed to postpone the surgery since I had already promised myself to follow his instructions to the hilt. I had read enough horror stories like CFI10000 that it just wasn't worth taking a chance. I will reschedule, and this time allow enough time for recovery and a driver to drive me home.

Just a short update. Judy from Dr. Fara's office called me to discuss rescheduling my surgery. During the conversation she clarified that I did not need to wait 3 or 4 days to travel home. Only that I have a driver, in which case I could travel the next day. With this new clarity I am trying to reschedule, hopefully before the summer when I get outdoors and enjoy my hobbies. Will keep posting updates as they happen.
