Remove Them?

Post by Sans Gêne (imported) »

In case testicles are shrunken after several alcohol injections and do not produce any testo, should they be removed? And if so, why? What, if one leaves them in the scrotum?

The answer is it really depends on the doctor, how long it has been since you have injected, and what symptoms you present to the doctor. I waited a couple years between injecting and seeing the urologist. Tests showed they were not working, but since I was not complaining of pain, they said there was no problem to leave them in. It was not until I starting complaining about onset of periodic pain episodes that I convinced the doctor to take them out. Even then I had to jump through hoops to try to prove the pain was from the damaged testicles, and not being referred from elsewere. And I was told MULTIPLE times that removing them MAY not relieve my pain.

Others I have talked to have gone fairly soon after injecting and complaining of pain where had the doctor immediately want to remove them after just seeing an ultrasound showing impeded blood flow.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have been experiencing periodic pain - to the point, sometimes, being woken up by them. But my ultrasound only should great shrinkage but made no mention of impeded blood flow. So the doctor refused to entertain removing them.

Actually, my follow up question for you is, did all the pain go away once the testicles were removed? I couldn't figure out how no-longer existent testicles could experience pain. Phantom pain?

The answer is that YES, in my case the pain went away after they were removed. But as it was described to me, pain in the testicles can often be "referred" pain from somewhere further up the nerve path, and removing the testicles would not help if the it was actually the nerves further up causing it. My doctor had me do a few months of pelvic floor physical therapy to try to rule out referred pain. One other way they can test that is via a nerve block, which was also presented to me as an option vs surgical removal. My suggestion to you as a next step would be to ask your doctor for a nerve block. If they refuse THAT, then they really are not interested in helping relieve your pain, and would be time to find another doctor.
