Bush/Blair interest in the war
We've had enough fights over this topic as it is. Paolo's moratorium on these type of posts is still in effect.
Please don't post war/Bush posts.

Re: Bush/Blair interest in the war
It's way too difficult to discuss the Iraq war, Bush and Blair without emotional rages and near-friend-losing dangers ...
(Oh, my english is awkward and awful)
Just be quiet and don't say another word.
by the way - - is "Groot" derived from the Dutch language?
Thanks
Dave

Re: Bush/Blair interest in the war
1. Who in the heck decided to start this stuff up again?
Can't Paolo please kick them out permanently?
Isn't it enough that the last time y'all got me started that I pissed off half of the posters here?
We know that nobody's changing their minds at this point... so can't we just drop it here and now?
I hate to whine, so the next post somebody is going to get told but good and then I will defer to Paolo to take it down and clean up the mess...
2. Isn't "Groot Voel" a form of the Afrikaner language. Maybe pidgin english?...hell, I don't know.
It is not that important. A name is a name is a name...
3. Dave, if your English is terrible, it must not be because you are from Western Pennsylvania, huh?
4. Finally, (here goes), I do not blame the Russians, French, Germans or any nation in their circumstances for their stand against the war.
Hell, they are owed $$$BILLIONS$$$ by the deadbeat...so and so...
Now, may we please keep our peace on this issue?

Re: Bush/Blair interest in the war
On a lighter note, I don't mind you trashing toher things, but can we have hands off on the way western Pennsylvanians talk? Despite our regional stuff, we really are well read and devoted to the democratic principle -- remember that?
I also with good will, A-1, wonder where you got that quote about Arnold Palmer's balls? It is one of those things that got re-worked and attributed so many times to different people. In actuality it happened on the Johnny Carson show. Palmer said when his wife kissed his balls before he always hit a hole in one. Carson said, "What happens when she strokes your putter?"
If anyone else has some other attribution I'd like to hear it.
And with that said, and with equal good will, can you tell me what is going on in the picture that you use as your avatar? It looks like fun.

Play nice, kids.
I've got a large paddle and I'm dying to use it.

Re: Bush/Blair interest in the war
Paola's moratorium must have come into existance since 23 Mar, being the last post in A1's thread on Saddam.
As I have been in Europe these last four weeks, and on return, have not come accross this moratorium.
In any event, from my point of view,"The Deep Dark Cellar" does invite the exchange of controversial views in its own statement.
I will however respect Paola's position on this matter.
Yes A1, GROOT VOEL is Afrikaans, I am an Afrikaner (very proud of the fact), the meaning of GROOT VOEL is exactly the same as the wording you use directly under the A1 in your Avatar. Any objections to Afrikaners contributing to this Board?

Re: Bush/Blair interest in the war
Thanks to Groot Voel for answering my question.
I now know two new words in Afrikaans!
I may never use it, but at least I can say I know two wrods in Afrikaans.
That continues my streak of learning new foreign words each week, last week was Turkish. . .
are you ready?
1. Towel
2. Coffee
3. Bath

as for my English, I try very hard to write proper English and some days I am self-conscious about it. And I never pick on anyone else's English or writing style. Never!
by the way - I just posted a new story to my website.

Re: Bush/Blair interest in the war
Groot,
You are right that normally the Cellar would be the place for such things, but we tried that approach and it didn't work. People couldn't play nice and it was tearing the place apart.
So, as a last resort - we put the breaks on that particular discussion and things have been pretty peaceful since.
