The odd part about this story is that the police basically equate how common it is to it being acceptable.

12-yr-old castrated, forced to be part of eunuch group

When their missing son came back home after six months, his family was unable to decide whether to celebrate his return or grieve his plight. Their son Apurva Singh (name changed) was a victim of forced castration, carried out by a group of eunuchs.
Six months ago, when the 12-year-old did not show up long after school hours, his worker parents approached the police who failed to locate him. Apurva became yet another name in their list of 5,540 children, who went missing last year.
The Singh family had lost all hope of finding their son, until last week when Apurva showed up at their doorstep. He was their son, but the child inside him was gone. "He was much more mature," recalled a neighbor.
He had been lured by a person with the offer of sweets. That person had been friendly with him for some days. An unsuspecting Apurva ate the sweets he offered and fainted. When he woke up, he found himself on a dirty cot in a small dingy room.
Apurva was surrounded by a group of eunuchs, who offered him good food and new clothes and said they were now his family. He was kept there for the next few days. The eunuchs began teaching him all about his new life of being a eunuch.
Almost two months later, the boy said he was given a tablet that made him unconscious. He was apparently castrated in his sleep and he woke up with pain in his private parts. The eunuchs told me that the pain will subside soon and gave me medicines, Apurva recalled.
The wounds healed in a month after which he was made a part of a group of eunuchs, who would collect money at marriage venues and the homes of newborns. He got his share of money every day. Confident that he will return on his own, Apurva was finally allowed to visit his family.
Rakesh Senger of Bachpan Bachao Andolan, a child rights group, said Nearly seven children go missing from Delhi every day. He said cases like Apurvas were not unusual in Delhi, but their number was not very high.
A similar case was reported in 2008 from Jahangirpuri in northwest Delhi.

Re: Forced Castration in India
This news item is from 2013. I havent seen any follow-up of it, but I havent tried a search for it yet, nor of the 2008 case mentioned. A 1982 case made the front cover of AsiaWeek with a full color photo of the boy when it broke. There was a long article inside with details about how the boy had been abducted and castrated. The boy later admitted that he had sought out and voluntarily joined the eunuchs and was voluntarily castrated. But he had had second thoughts later when he missed his family.
I do know that boys under the legal age of 18 are castrated in South Asia (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh). The Japan International Cooperation Agency published a report in 2018 of a research project that they sponsored on under-age (under 18 years of age) prostitution in Bangladesh. Over 600 of the prostitutes that they found were castrated boys. Another study that I posted about here on the Archive looked at drop-outs at one school in Bangladesh. One of the drop-outs was a eunuch who was already castrated when he entered school at age 8. He dropped out at 13 because he was being bullied. There are miscellaneous scattered individual reports of young boys and girls trafficked for prostitution in India. Some of the boys are castrated to keep them young-looking for customers. It is on-going, just generally not written about.

Jesus,
Thanks for the follow-up. Oddly, these groups seem to go unpunished.

Re: Forced Castration in India
It makes sense that when these eunuchs lost their own balls, they needed to find endless new balls to cut to keep enjoying their desire to castrate balls. They illegally abduct and castrate vulnerable young boys to satisfy their continuing cutting desires. Obviously lack of testosterone has not ended their desires to castrate other males. Parents in India must be terrified to let their boys and teens go anywhere alone.
The police there must be very conveniently ignoring the brainwashing and abducting of these underaged boys to claim that there was any legal consent by underaged and clearly abducted boys. Months of brain washing young boys and forced imprisoning until the boys " volunteer " to be castrated is obviously criminal by their laws. Once cut, these cutters lose interest in these young eunuchs. Except maybe the eunuchs who want to cut other males. The other eunuchs go off alone. Probably the cultural history of this crime dulls the public and police horror. Familiarity reduces the drive to eradicate these crimes. Boys castrated so young likely don t even realize what they have lost and down play the results of these crimes. How can they know what they lost, and what they never experienced, by never becoming grown men ?

Re: Forced Castration in India
I have to wonder how many are really forced vs. drawn to it because they are lgbt and save face by claiming they were forced. The whole forced feminization fantasy is so prolific because men want to abdicate responsibility for something they shamefully deeply desire.

As usual, I think that JessicaH has really hit the target perfectly. Before there was acceptance of Male-to-Female transitioning (and before the Internet), there was a print literature of fiction where a young man was seduced by one or more women and forcibly transitioned to female. He then lived happily ever after in his new form. He was forced into what he really wanted, but could not express. One of the print magazines even had a couple of articles about the theme.
If you look at the stories in the fiction archive here, how many of the stories are of men who are seduced and/or forced into castration? They then live happily ever after, cherished by whoever castrated them. A literary analysis (yet to be published) of the 100 stories here receiving the most 5-star ratings found 80% of them had that basic theme.
Are the young hijra in South Asia in the same positionforced into something that they actually desire, but are unable to express in society?

Re: Forced Castration in India
It seems like, becoming hijra is an ancient alternative for many lgbt people there. Not ideal, still better than nothing as hijras have some social acceptence and they have organization.
I have read some real life stories about hijras. I am not sure if their desire to make hijras is so overwhelming that they kidnap random boys and castrate them. There is a well documented story of a boy who grew up with hijras and they did not want to castrate him. Hijras were more like gay parents or family to him. But it is not common as I understood. That baby boy was abandoned on the street and hijras took care of him.
I remember that when I was around 15, I was actively seeking ways to get castrated. But there was absolutely no real possibilities. If I lived in India, I might have joined hijras to get what I wanted. May be. Buy I still had my family I loved, so it would have been difficult to choose.
So many youngsters get castrated voluntarily I guess. If not most. But that doesn't mean there is no forced castrations and regretted castrations.
