Happy Steel Penis Festival

The first Sunday of April is the annual Kanamara Matsuri (金魔羅祭) in Kawasaki Japan. （’Kana’ actually means ‘gold’ or metal in general, but the festival name is officially Englished as ‘Steel Penis,’ rather than ‘Metal Penis or Gold Penis.’）

The festival is based on a legend (from the other end of Japan, no less) of a demon that took up residence inside the vagina of a young woman. The demon was motivated by love, obsessed with not letting other men have sex with her. The demon’s jealousy was so strong that young men had their penises ripped off when they tried to have sex with the woman on two occasions.

To combat the demon, the woman sought the aid of a blacksmith who made her an iron penis to break the demon’s teeth, allowing her to be rid of it forever. It worked, and to give thanks to the spirits that blessed it, the iron penis is now enshrined at the Kanayama Shrine. You can see it and touch it if you visit.

One the day of the festival, men carry huge penis floats through the streets. (The giant pink penis is traditionally carried by gays and transvestites.) There is a radish carving contest for the most realistic giant penis. Penis-shaped candies are sold to the huge crowd of spectators. There are large wooden penises for women and children to sit on while their photographs are taken. There are various kinds of penis souvenirs to take home.

A good time is had by all!

I think it’s great that this year, the Steel Penis Festival shares the date with the annual Christian celebration of rebirth....

That s really great to see a modern culture so openly embracing male genitals and fertility ! The women seem very accepting, open, and enthusiastic in their selfie photos, posing with the artificial penises and enjoying the lifelike colored frozen penis treats. A few handsome western men are seen enjoying openly sucking and licking those colored treats too !

It is very interesting how the gay/trans big pink penis parade float is so much bigger than the str8 black penis float. The pink float appears to be circumcised high and tight with a scar ring showing prominantly on the shaft. The str8 black penis seems uncircumcised with no similar scar on the shaft. Both feature very prominant frenulums and wide glans for extra pleasures for both sexes.

If only christian and other cultures would shed the unhealthy fear and condemnation of sex in modern cultures and enjoy sex and fertility in such virile male physical forms.
