Getting Castrated

Post by Nutsbegone (imported) »

Hi Yawl,

Just wanted to drop in and say after 6 months of phycologist, and doctors finally got approved by my insurance company for a bilateral orchiectomy and scrotal excision. The surgery date is April 20, 2021

Congratulations and good luck.

Any tips or recommendations? I am just starting with therapy and he has said that he would write a letter and help out with recommendations/referrals if that is the direction I decide to go. I haven't explored the insurance option other than trying to find a endocrine specialist who will work with my insurance. The few places that were initially recommended would be out of network for my current insurance provider.

Look up wpath go to find a phycologist in your area that's what I did I had two telephone appointments and got my letter I needed 2 letters so I found 2 phycologist then i found a urologist in my area that does orchie surgery same thing 2 telephone appointments the doctor summitted the 2 letters to my insurance company and i was accepted. All in all that took 4 months you will need a endocrinologist for hormones so get that in place too. Hospitals in my area also have LGBTQ dept. that also helped me in the processs

Hey,

Many many congrats! Seriously, this is a very big deal. You have shown everyone exactly how to do this correctly - that being in a manner that is safe, sane and medically proven.

I know that many people face obstacles that others do not face. Money is often the largest barrier to treatment within the medical community. As you've pointed out, insurance has helped you pay for your documented medically required surgery. Others might not have insurance. So, I know that can be a huge problem.

Travel and location can also be a problem for many. Even with a therapist letter or two, it is not always possible to find a doctor willing to do the surgery. This can mean travel expenses.

May I ask a very big favor? Please stay around and pay it forward. By that I mean don't fade away. This community is always so full of people seeking advice and your experience is beyond valuable and could very well save someone's life in the future.

Again, congrats and know I am very happy for you.

Congratulations! I just found out that my bilateral orchiectomy was approved and is scheduled for the week after yours. My path getting there was much different though (alcohol and CaCl injections)/. Good to see more options becoming available in the medical establishment for surgical castration without having to take the risky path of damaging them first.
