Doppelgänger - Parts 1 & 2

Post by Atreyu69 (imported) »

I'm glad to see that this story is getting some stars and positive feedback. It's sort of a departure for me and so I had my doubts about how well it'd go over. 🍑👋

Interesting story. I'll be curious for part 3.

Part 3 was submitted yesterday. I just missed the "dead line." I hope you enjoy it. :).

True story; a few years back the Body Worlds traveling exhibit came to the Tech in San Jose. Little kids with their parents were happily going in and out seemingly unperturbed and untroubled. But I couldn't enter. The very idea freaked me out and I was terrified. 😢

Part 3 has been published. At this point Devlin can simply decide to forget about Kirby and the story ends here. Or he can return to the Body Worlds exhibit and things would get really weird. As readers what would you prefer? 💡

I would continue, and I do like the concepts in the story. That said, and this is as a moderator and to help provide guidance in the writing:

I find the underlying concept of how the Bodyworlds exhibits are obtained in this story as being on the literal edge of what can be allowed to be posted here, and others might think they go over the line. I'd be careful to avoid going any further in that direction (IE going more extreme on the element which acquires the Bodyworlds specimens). I will give away a significant part of the plot of the series here, because it is relevant to what I'm about to say.

The only reason I think this story makes it in is because the "deaths" are not a permanent state, at least for the memories and brain state of the deceased subjects. As such, I do not see these as some sort of snuff story, which is disallowed on EA to my knowledge. Instead, the subjects are reanimated in a "Doppelgänger", and pretty much continue with their lives inside of that new body. How that happens, I'll leave for people to read and find out.

The reason I find it o.k. in this instance is the story takes place in a semi-dystopian universe, and ultimately the subjects are not really deceased.

There are a few other stories in the archive which do go that far as well, but the subjects are adults. Still, I don't think it matters; when dealing with the death subject here, we must be careful we're not advocating content which glorifies death. Please understand, I'm torn between the artistic vision and being careful not to allow things posted here which go too far, which could be problematic for the EA (hence writing in my moderator capacity this time).

My caution? This is VERY close to going over the line, so please continue to write, but be mindful of not crossing the line.

Had there not been a reanimation element to this story I could very much see it being disallowed.

I'm working on it. However it's difficult to make my vision conform with the writer's guidelines. :(. That's not a complaint at all. I'm grateful for everything you do. 🙏

I'm glad you're taking the review in the way it was meant to be received. I had expected it may make the job of continuing the story line more difficult, but with what I've seen you write in the past, I think you will be able to navigate it.

I look forward to part 4.

What it comes down to is simple: with the appropriate tags and warnings, if Bella sees fit to post it, then it can be posted. If Bella says "edit this part", or makes suggestions, I'd recommend doing that.

I've literally vomited over some of the stuff that was sent in in the past. Hence the guidelines. It's really up to Bella now.

So long as the story isn't gore for the sake of gore, or violence purely for the sake of violence, I'm sure that it'll be fine.
