To give you an honest answer. Yes. However, it was a jockstrap and not boxers that I snapped my nuts with.

Be careful what you say! My mentor in graduate school (I finished in 1971) was Prof. Alan Dundes. While he is considered one of the most wide-ranging and important folklore scholars in America, he is probably best known for his 1978 article Into the Endzone for a Touchdown: A Psychoanalytic Consideration of American Football. It was an excellent, and quite academic, analysis of homoeroticism in American football. While it was published in an academic journal (Western Folklore), it was quickly picked up by journalists. He received quite a number of death threats and had a police guard provided at his home for almost a year and a police escort to and from his university classes. The article is fun to read and well worth tracking down in your local library.
