I was already at castrate levels, chemically prior to having my Orchiectomy, so no immediate changes were noticed. The main difference is that the estradiol I take is more effective, even in smaller doses.

Re: My Orchiectomy with Dr. Arnkoff
Congratulations.
Reading your story helps. I haven't had problems with piercings, but the thought of being awake while a doctor cuts me open, even somewhere simple like the scrotum makes me nervous. I really want to make it happen and join the ranks of eunuch soon. With the pandemic, I don't feel comfortable having to travel and stay at a hotel for a few days. I need somewhere close. I know there are a few places that perform transgender procedures, but Dr. A has always seemed like one of the easier options.
I am definitely an introvert and don't enjoy making phone calls. I don't really know where to begin when it comes to getting a letter which is required by many doctors. I thought Plume would help, but they seem to focus on male to female or female to male and said that I didn't fit their services.

Re: My Orchiectomy with Dr. Arnkoff
The preparation sounds the same as when I got a vasectomy. I was told no hair between my navel and knees. The worst part was the anesthetic. That felt like a twang on the nuts with a rubber band. The Dr described what he was doing, let me know when he had the cord out . Chatted about how he could tell I was a cyclist, probably a swimmer and that I probably played a contact sport, all from the state of my cords. I am right handed, the left cord was harder than the right. I didn't have sutures, keyhole surgery instead, so no real healing or bruising. I had far worse swelling and bruising from recent bilateral inguinal hernia surgery.

These true life experiences are invaluable for the men making decisions to have available to them.
Thanks for giving everyone such a helpful and detailed account of your voluntary castration surgery and healing process. I hope you will update as your body changes in the future. Thanks again !

That s really fascinating that your dr could tell which sports you engage in from your scrotum and testicle cords ! Did he explain how he could zero in to each sport so correctly ? And what affects those sports had on your testicles and cords ?
Contact sports makes sense in past scrotal injuries by showing up or in scrotal scars or cysts. Hits in sports must leave marks that a trained professional can spot.
But what obvious affects did cycling and swimming cause in your scrotum contents ? As a man who does similar sports, its very interesting to hear how those sports affect men s balls and sacks ? Thanks for any addition info that dr might have mentioned about this.
If sports can have such affects on our genitals, it would be great if drs and sports experts would share these with men and boys for choosing their sports wisely and knowing how different sports might affect our sex organs.

When I asked how he knew, he just said experience. I guess I can see the cycling. That probably puts a lot of pressure in quite a small area, like the front row having cauliflower ears, but the swimming was a total surprise. I felt it might have been a bit of a party piece for him. I am still slim and did have what would be called a swimmer's build when I was swimming a lot. lol, not so obvious now though.

The sports thing would be a nice parlor trick if you had a somewhat unusual parlor.
Just for fun, look at the Wikipedia entry for "haruspex." I think Dr. Arnkoff has revived an old art.
