I know that different people may have different motivations for having their testicles removed, but from what I have read here and elsewhere at least some males have it done so that they will no longer be able to have erections.
Now, I have also read that after testicle removal some eunuchs are still able to have erections and use their penis to function sexually, even without TRT.
It would therefore seem, for those people, that getting castrated did not achieve the goal of elimination of erections?
Is there some additional strategy that they might look at to achieve the non-erection goal, post-castration? (other then something radical like penectomy)
Erections continuing after castration

Re: Erections continuing after castration
Testicles have no affect on a man's physical ability to have an erection and removing them simply reduces a man's desire to have one. Five years before I was castrated I began suffering from erectile dysfunction but could often get a partial erection yet never sufficient for penetration without a pump and constricting band. Five years after castration it's virtually the same. I was only briefly on TRT and am now on estrogen (to stave off the negative affects of castration). I can still get hard enough for masturbation whenever I chose.
Now, having said that let me point out that if a man goes for a very long time without an erection he will loose the ability, as tissue and muscles in and around the penis will atrophy. So if your desire is to never have an erection after castration then simply abstain from sex or masturbation for about a year. Your penis will shrink to about half it's previous size and without treatment it will loose some, but not all, of it's sensitivity as well.
Now let me further advise you to treat everything you read here or elsewhere on the web with a grain of salt. There are those who misrepresent themselves on the internet and most of what you'll see in medical literature was gleaned from superficial research usually involving much older men.

There are medications that are well known to cause ED.
Blood pressure meds and antidepressants are among the top ones.
The problem is they cause ED without removing libido. So, as you said, defining the objective is important.
