I've been trying to access the archive to read it. Three times now I've registered and waited to be added to a group to be able to read the archive. However, I never get added to the group and find out the account I created has been deleted (I think?). The user id I was using is Sam_12345 Is something wrong? I've never posted anything and only use an account to read stories in the archive on and off for the past several years.

Every year, it seems in the month of August, my account is deleted. I totally lose access until I completely resign up. I can use my prior email because it shows an account isn't signed up with that email address before. Yet I have - I use it every year to sign up every August when my account goes through its annual deletion process.

I'm a story submitted and have been a part of this forum since the olllld servers. What gives? I'm in IT and notice this every year, I just resignA BANNED LINK WAS POSTED!up, but I had to resignA BANNED LINK WAS POSTED!up three times just to get the validation email. Once I sign up, I usually have to wait an additional day to have access granted into the story archive. So once my stuff is reset, it's a two day process to get back into the fiction archive. it's like the admin needs to attach you to an appropriate usergroup to access the stories manually once an account is created.

Hoping you can get your servers fixed so that next year end of August/September, my account does not get deleted and I have to resign up just to access my stories and others. My very first registration according to email records searching for "Eunuch Archive Message Boards" was May 2016. Since, registrations with the exact same email have reoccurred, 7/11/17, 7/22/18, 8/3/19, 8/9/20, 8/10/21, 9/4/22. Can I be a betting person in one year I will have to re-register on 9/5/22?

I have nothing against the form, and I can finally access things now. But there does seem to be a glaring technical issue that needs to get addressed. It isn't just some user error issue, it's recurring, regular, and has a pattern. Yes I've read the thread, yes I've got access now. But posting this for future user's sake, so that someone can figure out what the issue is going on. Because it is frustrating when you go to sign in, and can't access anything for a few days. Perhaps the data of dates I generate can help someone. In particular, the fact that exactly one year after 8/9/20, I had to reregister on 8/10/21, so something is lapsing or resetting in that year database. If this error thread is still going on, I will have to run a datacheck on 9/4/23 and 9/5/23 to see what happens. May even need to look at 9/6/23. I know Paolo says the admin team doesn't know why, but hopefully this gives you some data to start researching a fix until September 2023 when I'll have to sign up yet again.

Long tirade by someone who hasn't bothered to read the forums. If you do not sign in to the forums at least once per year, you are deemed to be inactive and are deleted summarily. If you just sign in to the stories, you have NOT logged into the forums. The story board does not count. Come visit us once in a while. There are many things to learn; it might happen to you. Will we see you around the boards?

Yes, I do know why - Kristoff explained it quite well.

What we don't know is why some users can never even log into the Fiction Archive, despite being active members.
