An old thread but thought I’d add a comment. It’s been 16 months without testicles and so far I’ve experienced no regret or remorse. I’d say my feelings are more of being content with what I see as an achievement of a status I’d wanted for many years and that I’d researched a fair bit and trialled with chemical castration beforehand.

My plan is for scrotectomy next which I’ve viewed as the end goal for me. I’m currently on T replacement but have had some time on E and I’m still not sure which I prefer. The downside of T is in brings back some of the old T driven me that I dislike but I enjoy the physical strength T maintains. I like how I feel on E but it has driven mild breast development and the thought of losing physical strength is a downside, the softer smoother skin and slowing of body hair I like. I think if I could reconcile myself to breast development I’d stay on E. So for me some dithering on my hormone pathway is probably the only downside. Overall I’m happier post orchidectomy

Thank you for your contribution. For many here, I think the idea of castration is always associated with no or little testosterone. I was always interested in castration as a way of losing my testicles and thus being able to control the amount of testosterone in my body. I would be very interested to know if others feel the same way.

I chatted with a guy from Florida. He said that he was happy at first and liked himself better without testosterone. Then, he felt terrible not having testosterone. He said it was messing up his life with physical problems, lack of energy, gaining some weight, and he felt like his bones might become weak. He wondered if he should try estrogen. He did go on TRT. He felt a lot better. He was having encounters with men and did not want to explain his empty scrotum. He was asking me about implants and wanted to get them. I don't think he understood what he was getting into. My scrotum was empty, primarily before I was castrated (my balls would slide inside my body). I wanted nice testicles, and I love the implants I finally got that were made in Europe. I knew I needed TRT before I gained some weight and lacked energy. Losing mine and getting a better-than-suitable replacement was great. I am older, so it was an easy decision. I hope younger guys know what they are getting into. TRT is not fun (especially shots), and always having a doctor involved in your life is not easy. I recommend guys not do it unless they have gender issues or they identify as non-binary. Maybe some guys can get by with little to no testosterone, but castration is not a good way to experiment.

The implant thing is an interesting thought: almost all the men I've read about who have been involuntarily castrated (undescended testicles, testicular cancer, prostate cancer) seem to opt for implants. But apparently all men who have been voluntarily castrated and do not regret their decision decide against implants. Quite a number of them, even have the scrotum completely removed to make the castration more visually obvious.

Interesting note about TRT not being fun. I am on shots because I had no luck with gels back around 2008, and don't mind shots. I didn't like it being having to worry about the cats rubbing on me and getting it on them. Plus it was a pain waiting for it to dry. Still it didn't absorb well for me anyways for whatever reason.

Shots are easy, not fun, but its once a week and just takes a few minutes.

An alternative to the gel is Natesto, a nasal spray. CFI10000 drew my attention to it some time ago. Unfortunately, it is not approved in all countries, but at least in the USA it is permitted.

No regrets.

- Had my one year anniversary a few weeks ago

- No TRT. Just a daily D3 vitamin and Calcium pill

- Libido definitely gone

- No evidence of eunuch calm, still cranky as ever

- No depression

- Memory slightly less sharp

- Gained some weight, then lost it.

- Less stamina for sure

- Massive penile shrinkage from day one

- Body hair is thinning but still present

- No noticeable breast growth

- Scrotum annoyingly gets irritated at times

All in all, no big surprises. This forum was a great help navigating through it. Thank you to everyone.

The options to available methods of TRT were much more limited for me when I started. Patches which destroyed the skin because of the adhesives. Androgel had just been approved. I was HAPPY to go with injections, and it's fine and easy for me. Just a routine thing I do on Mondays.

The bad news is that Natesto is no longer being made. But I found an excellent replacement.

There was no way I was going to go on shots. I travel a lot, and I don't want to explain anything to the TSA. Yes, I realized that many people travel with needles, but I don't want it to be me. I don't want to use a needle on myself.

I don't like how shots keep your level high for the week's first half and low for the second half. That is not natural. Some doctors think that this unnatural application of a shot possibly creates the risks of stroke that some associate with the overuse of TRT (if your hematocrit and hemoglobin numbers rise from higher T doses).

The replacement testosterone option I found is a compounded cream that I rub on my scrotum. I am getting great results. My suggested alternative to testosterone shots is testosterone cream rubbed on the scrotum (based on the excellent blood work I am getting). Some consider that daily rise and fall are more consistent with the way a body creates testosterone spikes for men daily.

Again, my situation was that my nuts shrunk from being on testosterone replacement (and retracted staying inside me). I can understand that many guys here want to get rid of their testicles. I am not judgemental about that. I wanted to have a plump masculine scrotum. My doctor said I did not need my nuts anymore. They were not doing anything for me. He suggested they be removed, and I get implants.

I found it erotic that my doctor wanted to castrate me. I agreed. It's been good. I finally found (European-made) gel implants that feel real. They are plump, and I finally have the testicles I always wanted. I can often forget that mine are not real (when I am in bed playing with my balls). I have let other guys play with my nuts, and they don't know they are fake, and no one has guessed. At first, it seemed like a wrong decision because I had a significant hematoma, and my USA-made implants felt fake. After getting this fixed, I am now happy I got rid of my worthless nuts for this new pair.
