Interesting discussion. Vasectomies in Australia some done under either local or general. I had mine under local. The risk of movement is an interesting one. Last year I had a 2.75-hour surgery on my vocal cords which can only be done under local, and there are significant issues with having a completely dry mouth and needing to swallow all the time, which moves the vocal cords!

I requested to have an epidural so I would be awake when they took my testicles. I wanted to see them gone. However, the doctor and anesthetist, after I was in the surgery room said no they couldn't (or wouldn't) do that. So I was knocked out. I was still euphoric they were gone, but would have loved to see them placed in the metal tray.
