New eunuch

Post by catoboros (imported) »

Last week I had a unilateral scrotal orchidectomy under general anaesthetic. This surgery was much less painful than the unilateral inguinal orchidectomy I had five years ago for testicular cancer. I have had very little pain or bleeding, and did not need any pain relief after the first day. No sign of complications so far. Both of my surgeries were in the New Zealand public health system. All the staff were excellent and looked after me with great compassion. I had to wait for just over 15 months for my final surgery, 11 of which were taken by waiting for a psychiatric assessment, also through the public system. Although I initially approached my urologist as a private patient, the only local private surgical hospital is Catholic and forbids gender affirming surgeries. There is also an acute shortage of private psychiatrists. And then we had coronavirus, but New Zealand has now resumed elective surgery and I was ready for surgery at short notice.

It took me over 20 years, but my surgical transition is complete and I am now a happy eunuch. I will be trying the no-T lifestyle, fending off osteoporosis and metabolic problems with vitamin D and weight-bearing exercise.

Thanks to everyone here for your support over the years. I first started lurking in the late 1990s, shortly after the Archive was founded. I honour the memory of Bboy, and the other members who have passed on, may they rest in peace.

Congrats!

First, I hope the cancer is under control. Thank you for bringing that topic up. It is as important for men to do testicular checks as it is for women to do breast checks for cancer. The top three causes of death for young men in the United States are car accidents, gunshot wounds, testicular cancer. However, testicular cancer can be cured. Men under 35 and older men on testosterone replacement therapy should be very diligent in checking for lumps or bumps on their nuts.

Next, congrats on your goal of becoming a eunuch. I'm not sure if it would feel like a dream come true or an end to a nightmare but, either way, you goal is reality.

Congratulations. I'm a fairly new eunuch, and love my castrated state. They couldn't pay me enough to have balls again even if there were a way to attached new ones.

Thanks. I had a nasty recurrence with advanced metastatic disease that required 12 weeks of chemo and the removal of half a lung, but I have been in remission for over three years. My super-early detection of my stage one primary was not enough to avoid my later recurrence, but most males treated at stage one are cured with

alone, and survival rates are around 99%. Early detection is the key. Your advice is great, but I would go even further and urge men into their 50s to keep checking. I was in my forties when I found my lump, and we had one poster here diagnosed at age 55.
