Hello there! 26/06/20

Post by MistyMountain (imported) »

Hey everyone,

I just got approved and wanted to say hi. Since I was little, I have always not liked my genitals. Yet I have only in the last 2 years begun to explore my feelings of dysphoria (I’m in my 20s now, taken me long enough). I think I am gender fluid, although more often masculine. However, I would definitely rather not have a penis. As I still feel so new to all this, I am hoping to learn from those who may have had or still be experiencing similar feelings.

Hey @MistyMountain,

Welcome home. You are in the right place.

Thank you so much for your frank and honest introduction. The forum is the place for real medical discussions and you have started in the right way. Seeking information and ESH (Experience Strength Hope) from others is the way to go.

I'm glad that you are open-minded about what actions you will take in the future.

It is not an unusual mindset for a male to not like his penis. Even men who "like" having a penis and couldn't imagine the loss of pleasure having it taken off would cause them can find it to be a ridiculous looking thing.

If you do not have a therapist, may I suggest finding one? I know you are not crazy. A therapist would be good for many things. First, to start the documentation process for your desired sexual identity. More and more the mental health community is recognizing MTE (male to eunuch) and MTN (male to nullo) on equal footing with MTF and FTM.

One thing I'd like you to promise yourself is that you will not ever have surgery from a non-medical person. Only a real doctor should do surgery.

The frustration of things going too slowly or a feeling that no matter what you do, you will never be able to get the help you need might set in. That might never happen but, if it does, remember you deserve real medical care at all times.

Hey thanks for the welcome GordonGG and TopmanFL. Thanks also TopmanFL for those kind and reassuring words. I am looking into counselling, I didn’t realise how important it would be before joining this forum. I definitely will promise myself that I won’t have surgery from a non medical person, however frustrated I get. Hopefully counselling will help with that frustration too.
