New stories added.

Post by Kalikali (imported) »

Hello.

I noticed that there were no more stories added to the archive of the Eunuch Archive since 2002.

Can someone give me an explanation to why this is happening?

Why did the evergrowing collection of stories stopped its growth, is it some new regulation of the Eunuch Archive?

Thank you for your explanations.

Don't know what you are looking at. Wayback Machine? They are not current, haven't been for several years. Try reading OUR stories. Go to the front page of EA and click on Fiction Archive. Sign in (same as you would on the forums), and read away !

You can't. The Wayback machine doesn't archive server codes (nor would they run a separate instance of PHP, SQL, etc for each time they see a LAMP server) as they run on the server and is not available to clients.

What people are mentioning above regarding Wayback Machine, is a system known years ago as a web crawler. It goes into any site it can do so where it doesn't need a password, and in the case of wayback machine, archives what it finds. If I remember correctly, around 2002 the story archive here was put behind a password wall which these web crawlers won't go past. So what it did was archive everything it could find when the story archive was in the open without password protection (Password challenges added I'm sure to discourage underage reading), and has not added anything since.

There was also an issue where the story archive went through some kind of conversion, and many stories were lost in the move. This created a situation where you had many older stories (pre-when the passwords were added to the system) that show up in the wayback machine, but not here on the archive. I do not remember why that happened, and perhaps the people who were in moderation/running the site then could refresh my memory. That said, I think my recollection is fairly close to what happened back then, and why you're not seeing anything past the date you supplied.

The explanation is that you were looking at the old Eunuch Archive that is dead since 2002. This forum here is the new one with a new Eunuch Story Archive. A lot of the old stories from the old archive are unfortunatly gone.
