Hi, my name is Gary. I'm a 23 year old white male from the southeastern United States. I'd characterize myself as curious except that I'd legitimately want to try this. In fact, I'd like to go for it as soon as my life schedule and circumstances would permit, which might be very soon, or maybe not. I don't know yet.
At this point there's still a novelty in my mind associated with the idea of chemically castrating myself. But I'd also like to see positive benefits, physical and psychological. If nothing else I'd like to try it and see how much I like it. Chemical castration is reversible if done short-term so the overall risks probably don't outweigh the possible benefits.
What I'm looking for is:
1. Reduced sex drive
I'm a virgin and I'm perfectly fine with that but I do gain enjoyment from certain parts of my body. That enjoyment is less than it used to be and I can clearly see diminishing returns now.
As I'm a 23 year old man in good health (so far as I know, at least) I presume low testosterone is not a reason for that. Sexual impotency could either push me in a religious direction or toward a more gender-neutral conception of self and lifestyle (either one is fine with me.) I'm not dysphoric and probably won't end up transitioning MtF but I don't like how brutishly male I am now, in more ways than one. If I end up as the kind of person who has meaningful friendships with women (or anyone, really), it'd be best if male sexuality was not a factor (don't ask me to elaborate), and indeed losing that sexuality would boost my confidence to proceed.
2. Reduced Aggression
I have an unbelievably large amount of rage in me. It's not something that I actually direct against physical people but it's there nonetheless. I won't elaborate further but losing this could be very much to my advantage.
3. Reduced Intrusive Thoughts
This stuff has been f**king with my head for as long as I can remember. I've heard there may be a correlation between testosterone and intrusive thoughts so I'd like to see if this can win me peace of mind.
4. Reduced Body Hair
This one's straightforward. I'd be able to have and sustain a clean-shaving face, arms, legs and abdomen.
5. Reversed Balding
This one's more long-term but I have an older brother whose hairline started to recede in his early 30s. That's something I'd like to avoid.
I haven't done a ton of research on this but I'm vaguely aware of the side effects. The main two I'm worried about are cognitive decline and depression. For that reason I'd like to try it with just no T for a certain period (e.g. 3 weeks) and then no T + estrogen supplements for the experiment's second half.
I plan on combining oral Provera (medroxyprogesterone acetate, daily dose of 2.5-10 mg) with oral Estradiol, dosage currently unknown. I'm aware there are medical contraindications from taking progestins and estrogens simultaneously but it shouldn't endanger my life if only done for six weeks. I refuse to inject a big needle into my dick and the possible risk of allergies is one other reason why I'd like to avoid taking a massive dose at once. Diabetes and gynecomastia shouldn't be a concern for a six week trial run.
After the experiment's over I'll decide for myself how I want to proceed with the rest of my life.
6. Increased sociability
I'm mildly autistic, which is a lifelong impairment on my ability to bond with people. I'd like to see first of all what effect simple castration has and then what a brain on estrogen looks like. If I become a more genuinely friendly person that might be worth all negative effects short of death.
Anyways, for so long as I'm here it's a pleasure to meet you all. I can see that I've joined this forum well past its prime years but whoever's still here I'd love to hear from you and preferably your battle-tested experiences transitioning from high-->low testosterone.
(Edit: Whoops, sorry. I meant 06/09/2020. It's still June as of the time of posting.)

Re: Hey Everybody 06/09/2020
Welcome. The drugs are not like turning a light switch on or off, and it takes time for them to work. I'm not sure three weeks would give you a good enough trial if I'm honest.
There are many folks here who have done this and could give you better advice that I can, as I went directly to removing my testicles. But my understanding is they said this took some time and comes on, and when stoping the medications, goes away, slowly.

Welcome to a forum full of a great group of people who are willing to share.
I have a few comments on what you spoke of. One is that 6 weeks will not be enough time for you to feel the full effects of not having T or of having E in your system. It takes months. Second is that E may reduce your beard growth a little but you cannot count on it. It may also reduce other body hair. The key word is "may".
From; https://transcare.ucsf.edu/article/info ... ne-therapy
"Lets talk about hair. The hair on your body, including your chest, back and arms, will decrease in thickness and grow at a slower rate. But it may not go away all together. For that you might want to consider electrolysis or laser treatment. Remember that all women have some body hair and that this is normal. Your facial hair may thin a bit and grow slower but it will rarely go away entirely without electrolysis or laser treatments. If you have had any scalp balding, hormone therapy should slow or stop it, but how much if it will grow back is unknown."
Also, same with emotions, it may or may not make any noticeable differences.
Here is more; https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-proced ... c-20385096
"Feminizing hormone therapy will begin producing changes in your body within weeks to months. Your timeline might look as follows:
Decreased libido. This will begin one to three months after starting treatment. The maximum effect will occur within one to two years.
Decreased spontaneous erections. This will begin one to three months after treatment. The maximum effect will occur within three to six months.
Slowing of scalp hair loss. This will begin one to three months after treatment. The maximum effect will occur within one to two years.
Softer, less oily skin. This will begin three to six months after treatment.
Testicular atrophy. This will begin three to six months after treatment. The maximum effect will occur within two to three years.
Breast development. This will begin three to six months after treatment. The maximum effect will occur within two to three years.
Redistribution of body fat. This will begin three to six months after treatment. The maximum effect will occur within two to five years.
Decreased muscle mass. This will begin three to six months after treatment. The maximum effect will occur within one to two years.
Decreased facial and body hair growth. This will begin six to 12 months after treatment. The maximum effect will occur within three years."
Hopefully I've been of some small help. But you may have read all that before. In that case just ignore it all.

(Alrighty I'm going to have to change the formula and duration aren't I. That's fine I guess. I'm new here and that was but a vague prototypical roadmap to lay out my thoughts. Sounds like the estrogen's going to be the complicated part.)

It's good to take the time to sort out your thoughts. When folks first arrive, they may have expectations that conflict with what is realistic, and those of us who have been castrated are willing to help sort out the truth from the fiction.
Take your time, sort your thoughts, and run questions by us when you're unsure about something. We're here to help.

Well, they gatekept me on the phone. I wanted to schedule a first time visit but they insisted I explain why ahead of time. Once I did they said they couldn't help me and that was that.
This might take a while, but I'll be sure to update once (or if) it happens.

You have come to the right place. You sound like you seriously want to get rid of all those awful things that testosterone causes. We are here to help steer you in the right direction and accomplish your objectives. GordonGG gave a very good analysis of what to expect from chemical/physical castration. Just be patient and we will help you get the ball rolling. Good luck and welcome to EA.
