Week 12 Update
Today marks twelve weeks since I officially became a member of the Eunuch Brotherhood on March 7th, so without further due. Below is a brief timeline of both, My procedure with Dr. Arnkoff and my subsequent recovery/progress to date.
- Booking the Procedure: I contacted Dr. A via text in early January, inquiring about availability in February and March. He was quick to reply back with a couple available dates. After I replied back with my choice, we spoke briefly over the phone and he gave me a brief synopsis of the procedure and asked a few cursory medical related questions- pretty straightforward. While his communication style might be less formal than most are accustomed to, the interaction was very much in line with what I was prepared for after awhile of research on this site and a couple other forums. After our phone interaction, he texted me a brochure for the Holiday Inn Express that’s down the road from his office in Farmington Hills - I HIGHLY recommend staying there.
- The weekend before the big day, I got a cashier’s check for the fee($3,500 at the time)- He only accepts money orders and cashier’s checks. I then texted him a pic of the check to make sure I had it made out to the right party and he replied back that it was good. Now, the one week countdown.
- I arrived at the Holiday Inn Express Thursday evening and checked in with Dr. A the next morning via text letting him know I’m in the area. He in turn texted me to confirm the time( 8:00 AM) and address.
- Saturday/Day of appointment- I arrived fifteen minutes early, filled out some paperwork and waited a bit until Dr. A and his assistant, Sarah were ready. Thirty minutes or so later, I’m in the operating room, getting the first of a handful of numbing shots(the local anesthesia). The shots were surprisingly painless, even the direct injections into the testicles. After waiting a twenty or so minutes for the anesthesia to take effect, the work begins. Other than some tugging here and there, I didn’t feel a thing except psychologically when I heard the sniping of the cords. Before I knew it, I was told the first one was out, then it was on to the second. Ten or so minutes later, I was told the second one was out- What a feeling hearing that- I’m officially a EUNUCH. It was quite the surreal moment when I saw those two little T factories sitting on the surgical table, looking smaller than I imagined. After getting stitched up and cleaned up, Sarah gave me some packets of bacitracin and reminded me to keep the area iced for the first 72 hours. Dr. A was kind enough to give me a can of Coke and a bagel to help keep my blood sugar up and saw me on my way. Walking out of the office felt so surreal and effortless. I had to keep reminding myself I just had surgery.
- After going to the nearby Walgreens to get my prescriptions filled, I then went to the Whole Foods next door and stocked up on healthy food, so that I didn’t have to leave the hotel for at least the next day or two.
- The rest of Saturday and all of Sunday were spent hanging out in the room, keeping the area iced just about non-stop. I spent almost the whole weekend in the room, watching old Law & Order episodes, doing the on again, off again rotation with the icing. This routine continued into Monday morning when I would get ready to head back home.. The swelling was minimal, probably due to the constant icing and rest. Prior to leaving, I checked in with Dr. A and texted him a pic of the area. He quickly replied back that it looked good. Feeling reassured, I embarked on my journey back home to Massachusetts.
- Tuesday- After having made it back around midnight, I headed back to work, keeping the area covered in bacitracin and dressing- This would be the first day without constant icing. After getting home in the afternoon from work, I went a few last rounds with the icing. From here on out for the next couple weeks, I kept the area covered with bacitracin and gauze.
Other than periodic itching from the sutures, I experienced almost no discomfort. After three to four weeks, the incision was perfectly healed. The cord nubs were noticeably prominent for the first six or so weeks to the point of feeling almost as if I still had testicles- Thank god I had the assurance of having seen my balls sitting on that surgical table. After eight weeks, the nubs started shrinking noticeably and now, 12 weeks, post op, they’re barely noticeable at all. In fact, crossing my legs is a total breeze and actually, I’ve gotten very used to sitting with my legs crossed – It’s the most comfortable way to set and maintain good posture, IMO.
All in all, I couldn’t be happier with my experience with Dr. Arnkoff and my outcome and progress since the procedure. I’m also beyond grateful I was able to have this procedure just in the nick of time before the COVID lockdowns, a mere three days before Michigan was hit with the pandemic. I believe I’m Dr. Arnkoff’s last patient as of this writing. Hopefully, he can get back in business soon. I certainly would recommend him without reservation. Of course, my experience couldn’t have gone as smoothly as it did without the mental preparation this site provided me. My one and only regret is not having had this done sooner, much sooner. However, now that it’s done, it’s a great feeling to know I’m free of the poisonous T in my body.
Thanks to all those before me who posted their experiences with Dr. A and the many others who have provided valuable insight and perspective on what to expect, going forward as a newly minted member of the Eunuch Community.
Yours truly,
Evolve01

Glad to hear that things went well for you. I wish you well on the rest of your healing.
Did Dr A remove the scrotum while he was at it?

Thanks for the warm regards. In answer to your question, I opted to leave the scrotum intact. I did so because it might be needed later if I opt for a vaginoplasty. So far, it's not nearly as dangly or in the way as I expected it to be which is a pleasant surprise. I'm hoping it shrinks over time.

Sounds like a good plan.

Re: Week 12 Update
Congrats Evolve01!! Glad everything went smoothly. Pretty much my experience too. Did you fly back after procedure? Assuming you went back to office job. I took week off after my orchid but could have gone back to work after couple of days.

Thanks- I’m answer to your question, I drove out to and back from the procedure. The drive back was uneventful, probably due to my obsession with keeping the incision iced the first couple days. My job is primarily an office job. I made sure all non office tasks were taken care of in advance of the procedure.

Re: Week 12 Update
Did Dr. A insist you arrive at least 24hours before and not leave for at least 24hrs. I was driving from Chicago, and he insisted, to avoid any DVT issues.
