Bi-lateral Orchiectomy

Post by bullgeo (imported) »

MAY 25, 2000 was the day I had my left ball removed because of a potential cancer. The female doctor cut my left lower abdomin and pulled my testicle up and out of the scrotum, then cut it off. The procedure is called an orchiectomy; If both testes are removed it's called a Bi- Lateral Orchiectomy.

this is what the surgeon performed on me, i find it amusing , in that i had severe testiscular pain from an accident 10 years previous ( have been balless for 3 years now), but uk Doctors would rather you were in pain that as it was put to me by an urologist, we dont want to see you loose your maleness-like HOW!

Caviman,

Exactly my problem, too!

Chronic pain isn't a valid reason.

If you take enough pain pills, then your liver fails and they get to make MORE money off of that.

For me it was a little problem at first. My then female doc asked me WHY, and I told her I would like to have then taken away, coz they dont work at all. Have Klinefleter syndrome!

Then I did see an urologist maldoc and after 8 month of talking he agreed to take them. But not from scrutom. Each side of penis. Have not wiseble wounds there now after 1 yr and 3 weeks. - It was the best I ever had done!!

From what I can gather, the medical profession has become considerably less willing to perform orchiectomies in recent years than in previous times. The excesses of castrating marginal peoples, mental patients, etc. have definitely added to a reluctance to remove the testes of healthy men. Pain isn't reason enough.

A doc I consulted in the late 1960s concluded that some mild pain I was suffering from then would only get worse in the future and offered to perform the bilateral orchiectomy procedure. He said the pain would only get worse and he could guarantee that I'd want them removed by the time I was in my 50s. He said I had abnormally short cords as a result of a congenital defect and that I would suffer from recurring infections and the build-up of scar tissue over time. I was in my mid-20s and turned down his offer at the time. I wanted to protect my ability to procreate. In any event, he turned out to be correct, but when I sought to be castrated a few years ago, the docs were saying pain was not a reason to be castrated. I was already on HRT (testosterone). I eventually befriended a vet's ass't that said he'd apply his skill to my testicles. I've never had any regrets. My doc's response when I finally told him I'd been castrated was that I could have all the testosterone I wanted. Some of us would definitely be better off being ballless.

OTOH, I have a boy friend that experienced recurring pain in one ball for more than a decade. They eventually found a benign, fibrous growth the size of a lemon on the nerve to the testicle that hadn't shown up with diagnostic assistance when they finally did exploratory surgery. It was removed, including the nerve (no ball pain for him!), and he's been fine since.

I would like to suggest that there may be some relationship here to the medical profession's overall reluctance to treat pain as a defect or as a medical condition of any sort. --FLO--

I'm kinda living evidence that pain is sufficient in some cases. I was castrated friday night (in a hospital, by a doctor) after having injured mine pretty badly. El doctor was willing to leave my fucked up nuts in, but they hurt and I asked for them to be removed (plus, well, I do hang out here, after all) and he said the pain was enough to justify it in his opinion. He presented the case at a conference and said for the first time in history, about 30 urologists were unanimous in saying yeah, take 'em out.

Now, mine were mostly nonfunctional as well, and fertility is not an issue for me (eek. Kids. no thanks...my dog's all the child I need), so I was able to make a pretty strong argument that there's no reason to leave them in.

Now, contrast this to my last urologist (who was incompetent, by the way) who said he wouldn't remove them for any reason. He also has some pretty severe penis envy issues, which played into it some (long story) but ultimately the point is that it depends on the doctor. Some are willing to if you tell them the right things, some won't no matter what the deal is.

(Incidentally, I do plan to post the full story of my awful hospital trip when I'm done writing it up; it's good for a few laughs)
