Regardless of your hormone status your brain is one component that contributes to your libido. I have been a Eunuch for about four years with three of them testosterone free. My libido diminished but never went away. My erections only completely stopped last year and my penis shrank only because I was so busy and stressed at work I didn't use it. I've spent serious money trying to restore the function of my penis but ED had not stopped me from enjoying sex with my wife.

So the anxiety hit, right at the 8 month mark, confusion, unable to focus, I stopped TRT for 3 or 4 days and then went back to 1 pump a day and it's OK but I am also converting to an OTC .25mg Estradiol, it is amazing.

So much so that I may ween off the TRT completely but then there's the endo appointment next month. Rather just wait until I talk to him.

But the HRT, OMG, feel so good, life feels normal with near no libido (Save for minor TRT as I ween off)

My goal is to get rid of this sub surface libido that keeps me on the sexual edge.

Once I stop I can then be aware that it might not be right away that I will achieve the peace of calm I seek.

After reading many of the posts on this thread I have begun to rethink my decision to stop HRT March 1.

It is sounding like doing that may just inject even more complications into my mental and physical situation.

It seem like my double orch was not that long ago, but in reviewing my medical history it was over a year ago, and this June will be 2 years.

During that time I have not adjusted well to being castrated, especially emotionally.

I continue to strive to adjust, adapt, and accept, but this is a very challenging effort for me, as it probably is for many guys who never sought castration.

Cheers to all of you who knew what you wanted and achieved it. I do envy you in a way.

Hey,

I went on Androgel around 2002 to treat low-T.

Within 3 months I started to experience BPH symptoms enough that I could have been the spokesman for BPH problems. There weren't any BPH symptoms I did not have.

So, they added Proscar which is finasteride 5mg (Propecia is 1mg finasteride). They also prescribed Flomax.

Flomax is not a hormone. It is a smooth muscle relaxer and gives relief of BPH symptoms pretty much from the first night you take it.

The finasteride is a DHT blocker and takes longer to shrink the prostate back down.

So, I've been on both TRT and finasteride for not quite 20 years.

I know there are claims of huge problems with finasteride but, I have never experienced any of them. After about a year on Flomax, I was able to stop it and just continue the finasteride.

Did finasteride kill the libido completely?

No - it has had no effect on my libido. I've had none of the finasteride syndrome symptoms. Maybe because I'm also on Androgel?

I didn't have many issues after my castration with no T but that may be due to is gradual diminishing prior to the surgery (my T level was 120 gg/dl just before the orchiectomy). Three months later I wen on testosterone cypionate initially at 170mg every two weeks. My prostate became a grapefruit and my hematocrit shot up to 60. My dose was cut in half and then halved again. Still issues and on top of the prostate and red blood cell extravaganza my BP shot up to a steady 160/100. So I have been off now for years with minimal negative effects. However, as my memory began to fade and my energy levels followed I started researching estrogen (estradiol) treatment in lieu of T. Further, I was growing paranoid about bone loss. Anyway, I'm a week into Climara 50 and so far feel great. My libido has risen slightly, I feel calmer and aside from sore nipples I'm happy with it. I change to a new transdermal patch this evening.

I'm on 1.68% androgel, twice daily. Keeps the energy (and libido) up.

Happy to say though that my breasts are growing, but I don't like the libido :(

Libido reduction is only a small part of what changed about how my mind works on low T and female hormones. I am far more clear-minded and experience dramatically lower levels of stress (eunuch calm is real). I'm far more able to engage with others than I was before and I was pretty good at it then. In fact, every aspect of myself that I didn't like about myself is gone and every aspect that I did like is enhanced. I will never, ever want to restore anything approaching "normal" T.
