I've been doing research on turp and just found out that I'm having a prostatectomy I'm so terrified the more I read the worse I feel. I'm all alone and have nobody to talk to about it. Plus I've stopped taking my testosterone. I'm still not emotionally recovered from my castration ordeal the shock of loosing my testicles when I just thought I was having the epididymis and nerves removed on them and the wounds rotting not once but twice and taking 9 months to heal and now just a little over a year I'm having major surgery again with a new urologist is it going to turn out the same as the other times?

My best friend through school lived 30 years in diapers after his prostrate removal and subsequent castration. PAE is basically killing the prostate by blocking the arteries and that is one of the options my urologist is considering for me. I'll know more on the 24th of January. Good luck on the 30th.

This cystoscpy burned after, not just urinating but even during water aerobics for an hour at the pool, Next time I will ask for that silicone sex lube, that when you get it on your hands, you can't pick up anything for a week. I've had painless catheters before.

So they told you you were having a button TURP but have actually scheduled you for a prostatectomy? Did they change their mind, or has someone made an error?

That sounds like TURP (Trans Urethral Prostate Resection). Prostatectomy is when they remove the whole organ, not just 'core out' the inside. As far as I understand it, during TURP the surgeon aims to remove as much tissue as is necessary to provide good urine flow. S/he will endeavour to avoid the nerves and blood vessels to your penis, and the sphincters (valves) of your bladder.

I had TURP (Trans Urethral Prostate Resection) two years ago. It's pretty well made a eunuch of me, even though I still have balls. Although I can get an erection (with difficulty) I have no libido and even when I do achieve an orgasm, I do not ejaculate at all. Urine was backing up into my kidneys, though causing kidney disease, so it was worth it.

I have a question does anybody know if your prostate will atrophy over time without any testosterone?

To answer my own questions I found a clinical trial that they castrate 6 men with severe BPH and the prostate atrophied and didn't grow back but DHT blockers came out and it was abandoned.
