Pigswill,

If you stick around and communicate with the many members of the Archive, you will find a wide variety of reasons for being here. I came for understanding and healing. Twenty years ago, one of my favorite students had himself voluntarily castrated at age 20. I reacted with horror and cut off all contact. He later committed suicide, partly out of regret for what he had done. For nearly twenty years I wondered and agonized over what I might have done to help him. What was my share of responsibility for the death of an incredibly bright and gentle young man? When I discovered the Archive, I thought that it might help me to understand and to heal. It has done FAR more than that.

I have discovered a true community that is gay, straight, male, female, and every conceivable point between and around those poles. It includes members much younger than my own kids and a smattering of individuals even older than I am. What I find amazing is how well this diverse group communicates, understands, and supports its population. Would that the rest of the world were as pleasant to deal with as the people here! I genuinely LIKE many of the people I have been communicating with. I have come to understand and accept many (but certainly not all) of their reasons for being here. Though I have only (knowingly) met one of the Archive members in person, I know that there are many others I would enjoy having as friends.

I have taken on a role of information gatherer and support provider to repay the wonderful people I have found here for the healing that I received. If you have arrived here for any sort of valid reason, you will find understanding and support. There will be a sincere effort made to answer any questions that you put forth.

Given the tremendous diversity of people and views here and the anonymity of the Internet, I am continually amazed at how little rancor or flaming occurs. Be polite, be nice, and be welcome.

First I would like to welcome you to the Eunuch Archive. From your post I get the feeling that you have been castrated for medical reasons. If you are looking for a support group this is the place. Join the chat room, many of us there are eunuchs and will answer all your questions.
