Its awesome to hear a Kate Bush cover in the charts. Meg Myers does an incredible cover of running up that hill, but the original is still better. Hounds of love is an unbelievable album. Great albums, Boys don't cry, hotel California, Out of the Blue, Dark side of the Moon, Parallel Lines. Lol, going to be adding to this list as my memory starts to work

Dooby Brothers and Eagles, yes!! Also, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 soundtrack is full of old hits, like Electric Light Orchestra and Cheap Trick. I also like Lake Shore Drive by Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah, which is an obvious play on LSD. Great, peppy tune tho!

Dire Straits wrote a song about you! Yes, you! It's called "10 inch Record". Don't stop with that one song, Dire Straits is amazing.

Pink Floyd is the inspiration for much of what I hear in My Chemical Romance

The Eagles (Yes, I've seen them live) can do no wrong except that one five-part harmony crap that sang.

Steve Miller Band (Yes, I've seen him live) is an amazing demonstration of what 8-track tape was able to do. Start with "Fly Like an Eagle".

Dr Hook (note: there is no period after Dr and I have no idea why as they are referred to as "Doctor Hook") Start with "Spending the Night Together" and "Silvia's Mother".

Queen (Sadly they broke up and then Freddy died in 1991 or so). Just do listen to it all - there is no better music ever. But, if you need a place to start Bohemian Rhapsody is the place. Listen to it a few times and it becomes an enigma wrapped in a riddle conceived in a dream.

The Beatles were (and are) the best group ever. Start with the song "A Day in The Life"

Wanna go a bit further to learn?

Opera.

Yeah, yeah, boring music which is sung in foreign languages.

But, a quick introduction is "Nessun Dorma" from Turandot by Puccini. My favorite piece of music ever. Just search YouTube for Nessun Dorma and I prefer Pavarotti but, there are others.

Listen to Nessun Dorma 5 times and it will become one of your favorite pieces of music ever. Until you find "Carmen" and the song "Habanera" by Bizet.

Much of that depends on if you want your opera in Italian or French and sung by a tenor or a soprano.

Oddly, I think I've seen more Wagner than any other opera. I've also seen almost all of his operas and he's not a favorite of mine.

Verde is very good and his themes are amazing. But, I'll take Pucinni any day.

Oh, and don't forget the Crooners of the 50s and 60s. The best introduction is Frank Sinatra's "New York New York".

Another classic Crooner song is "Mack the Knife". It's been done by everyone. I like Bobby Darrin's version.

Many of these classics have been redone more recently by Micheal Bubble and Harry Connick Jr.

I think for me it was more like the punk era so I guess "The Dead Kennedys" and "Devo" are two bands from your side of the pond that spring to mind.

Yes ELO were a great band but I wonder how many Hi Fi systems were sold as a result of hearing Supertramp's "Dreamer".

I have seen the Doobies in my youth as well as Fred Zeppelin the Stones and Black Sabbath and Zappa .

Last year I saw The Animals and the drummer was still knocking out a neat beat at 80 so plenty of great stuff out there.

If you live in the UK and like motor sport then there is no way that you could miss listening to Fleetwood Mac as "The Chain" features in the theme tune to F1.

I did like the Peter Green era of Fleetwood and "Hellhound on my trail and Shake your Moneymaker spring to mind from their first album.

Although I guess Stevie Nicks is easier on the eye.

@TopManFL LOLOL you crack me up!! I don't really think of you as an old guy, it's just an affectionate way to refer to you guys in your 30's and above. Age is just another number, right?

You listed a bunch of hit bands I HAVE heard of, and already really like including Queen, The Beatles and Frank Sinatra. Yeah I really do have a romantic side and Sinatra works well with most MILF's But your advice for Glen Miller and opera is something I'll check into, music has to match the mood and it can't hurt to have more variety for more varied moods. Maybe opera will be good writing music. I do know Mack the Knife and I like it. A lot of times I wish I could've been around in those days, when those songs were big. Altogether different time from today, don't know how I would have fit in tho.

Ahh thanks for these Ambiguous! I obviously recognize the Stones, and I've heard of Black Sabbath and I really like The Animals song about House of the Rising Sun. So cool that you and @TopManFL have seen so many of these old bands in concert. That must've been really amazing times! I'll bet concerts were also great for hooking up!!!
