Time Limits for Chemical Castration

It has been three weeks today since my first shot. I have an appoint with my Dr. on july 9th for my second round. I still get very horny and I was wondering, when will this subside. I have been having hot flashes, but I still have to jerk off several times per day and pussy is still a very distracting thing for me.

My Dr. said that this is new territory for her, she gave me the drug handout for birth control. This is all she has ever used it for. I may have noticed a very subtle change in libido, but I just can't say for sure.

So you are male, and your doctor prescribed you Depo Provera for the purpose of birth control? I wonder if they do that normally, considering Depo Provera's negative effect on male secondary sexual characteristics.

I am male, yes. I can't afford depot leupron, so she gave me depot provera instead, to help lower my libido. She had never used it for anything except for birth control in females, but is aware that it may be used as an opposing hormone to testosterone. Although she is aware of this alternative use, she has had no experience with it, so she gave me the only information packet available, the one for birth control. thanks. Jack

OK, to answer your question. I started Androcur about September of 2001, I did not have my testosterone checked until March 2002. Normal for the scale used is 500 to 900 being normal, mine was 35. I was castrated September 2002, about 8 weeks later one bright sunny day I had one of the best erections I have had in a couple of years. I did take care of the problem but what is interesting is that when I ejeculated expecting a drop or two of clear liquid or nothing I had a full load, it was clear but I did suprize me. I have had my testosterone checked again in December 2002 and it was less then 20, it does not regester below that level. So my T is less then when on Androcur but I still have erections sometimes. I think because of this I have not lost much of the size of my penis, It may be a little shorter but not that I have noticed. I dont have a sex drive, which was the whole idea but I do believe if I was with the right person I could get an erection and perform just fine. That is only a guess as I dont have a partner. I hope that answers your question, but somehow I think I have only clouded the issue.

This seems like a fitting forum to post a new poll.

I would like to pose a question to all that are, or have been chemically castrated. How long was it before some type of physical castration was perfomed or planed to be done (eg. Castration, SRS, Nullification)? I am going on 3 years now being chemically castrated. My goal is to obtain SRS before 5 years. From information that I have gathered , less that 5 years is acceptable. If any have gone beyond 5 years, I would be intersted in hearing if you had any complications.

i wonder if their is a limit before permanent problems are incured, such as ireversabily or damage, etc, with chem castration. perhaps it could be permanent. does anyone know ?

Yes, there is a time limit before permanent damage can occur. The main issue here would be sterility. After 6 months to a year (YMWV) permanent sterility can occur. As far a testosterone production after this time, it would most likely return. Although if one were to continue on chemicals, I would tend to believe that even this could be permanently shut down too. FYI, After over a year on chemicals, I had to stop for about 4 months. At that time, I could feel the testosterone begining to return again.

As a disabled Vietnam Vet, I began experiencing chronic depression about 12 years ago and the VA put on Prozac and then Citalopram in 2002. Both drugs blocked my sexual urges/sex drive by 97 percent, so I guess you could say that I was chemically castrated during the past 12 years. No nocturnal emissions or ejaculations during this period of taking these medications.

Male hormones are secreted by the adrenal cortex, which seems to be controlled by the Pituitary Gland. Testosterone, the male sex hormone, is produced by my testicles.

The VA has scheduled me for testosterone and other hormonal tests in early July due to a request from me concerning the retention of my testicles.

Just from taking Androcur for 11 months now, I also have a case of gynecomastia , which needs covering up, a t-shirt doesn't quite cover it !

Does this 'go away' after a time? Looking at gynecomastia web-pages and pictures, surgery seems to make a bigger mess.

Anti-androgen is being used to stop the testicular pain I had for 4 years. (orchitus/eppiddimitus) and eventually works. Doctor has checked liver/blood, Ive suggested having them removed, and this may take place later on, Androcur being expensive.

Gynecomastia 1 is for those who want, or have had, surgery, usually men in their late teens and early 20s.

Gynecomastia 2 is for men who have decided, for various reasons, to live with their breasts.

Gynecomastia 3 is for those men who have come to the point of enjoying and cherishing their breasts. I seem to be drifting towards this status.

Sadly, I can't. I'm 7 months into using androcur and I have been told that I shall be on it a year.

I fit in the category that still remain on androcur and I think

(trust) that by know the result is permanent - 2x50mg tablets

a day.

Things certainly feel very comfortable and permanent.

If my urologist faces me with surgical decisions I will face that

i was wondering what effects long term chem castration would have.ie, sterility, permanent impotence, permanent shrunk genitals,' eunuch calm, low libeto. have not read anything on the long term effects. surely there are some.
