I received the results from the bloodwork I had to have done last week. All of the values are within the normal reference range(s), so thats good news!
Curiously, the lab sheet with my results says Pre-Surgery/Hormone Panel-Adult Male-Baseline in the notes section. I dont go for the next big consultation until next Tuesday, so I wonder what the pre-surgery note means? Basic pre-op testing like they sometimes do? Im tempted to call the doctors office, but I dont want to seem like a pestesp. since Im going to see them Tuesday.
Until then...
Zach

I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes they will misinterpret what you say. Sometimes the doctors note gets reread by a nurse or lab technician. Just mention it to them when you see them in a few days.

They always list a reason for the blood work. In this case I think it was probably because the description of what tests the Doctor ordered are a known set and types for that description, there are probably quite a few. I had some blood work pulled about 10 days ago and the description says "pre-op" with the Doctor having to specifically list each test he wanted done.

Zach,
All those boxes doctors check on computers today have their good and their bad side. Once a box is checked, the computer remembers it for every visit thereafter. Getting the computer to forget the Dx in that box can be challenging.
About five years ago I changed primary care doctors. I have no idea why but, they checked the box that says hypertension. I don't have high blood pressure, I take no medications for high blood pressure and the doctor and I never discuss my blood pressure at my followup visits. Yet, when I read the computer notes for the visit, it always says that I was counseled for hypertension. Why? Because the box is checked.
So, if you have had surgery with this doctor before, it's quite possible that's the reason it says that. Also, he might just be getting ready. Having more than one baseline is a good idea.

Re: Lab Results Back!
Nothing really new except that I’m going to see my uro tomorrow and find out if he’s willing to perform an elective castration during the same surgery as my perineal urethrostomy. He has baseline lab results from the endocrinologist and therapist’s letters. I don’t mind saying that I’m a bit nervous, but I have my list of questions to ask.
For those who have gone through this already:
Are there specific topics or questions I should make sure to include?
Thank you!

You could ask your uro if he is able to create a nice and smooth area down there. It may be helpful to look for pictures of nullo surgery results you like and show them to the uro as an example what kind of look you want to have. Unfortunately, not every doctor is able to create a good looking result. It also may be a good idea to ask a doctor who is experienced in nullo surgery, just to get an second opinion.
Good luck!

I wholeheartedly agree with this. It's better to use a doctor who is experienced in these things than a regular Uro. They will not have as much skill as those who do this routinely - Read - doctors who work with gender non-conforming patients.

I also agree with you both. The uro has, or is consulting with a reconstructive surgeon who specializes in gender non-conforming patients. To date, I haven’t met this surgeon, so I don’t have a doctor-patient relationship with him. I’ve gone about this in an unconventional manner—-asking for castration along with a needed uro surgery. On the positive side, the uro didn’t say “NO” and dismiss me right away. On the negative side, he’s scrambling to come up with a treatment plan...but another positive is he might be able to expedite a referral to the gender non-conforming specialist. I definitely want the best qualified surgeon for the task(s).
