I am on Estradiol. I'm taking 3 mg per day after my orchi.
3mg per day, isn't that a bunch?
I'm 6'2" and 250lbs, I started with 2mg per day and loved the effect vs. Testosterone. But after just a couple of months at that dose, I was getting distinct signs of gynecomastia which I would rather avoid. I was told to avoid any Estrogen type drugs for two weeks prior to my sugery as they were worried there might be clot formation issues. Man I felt like shit after two weeks of no Testosterone or Estradiol.
So I ordered some 1mg tablets after my surgery, and finally crossed paths with my PCP guy about what was going on.
I was reluctant to do this as there are a BUNCH of pretty narrow minded medical professionals in this state. He was very understanding and willing to help when I mentioned that I needed an appointment with the lady who is basically the only MD in this State who handles Endocrinology for transgender or gender nonconforming individuals.
Turns out my PCP knows the lady and has been attending conferences regarding the handling of LGBTQ individuals in the local community. He indicated that it was hard to get an appointment with her, usually three months lead time and that she could be hard to deal with, but he would be willing to work with me and an Estradiol HRT regimen if I wanted him to take on that treatment regimen. Not only was he totally accepting of my choices in life, but not the least bit condescending of my choices. I was both shocked and amazed.
I am totally thrilled with this development as I have a really good relationship with my PCP and trying to find another doc to handle the HRT, would be a real pain in the you know where.
So for now, I'm going to start the 1mg per day dosage of Estrofem and setup an appointment with him having blood work in hand, to design a protocol including doses and even brands of Estrogen replacement therapy drugs.
Hope some of that might be of help to you.
