Re: New eunuch as of yesterday (4/27)!
One week update after my castration surgery.
The good: discomfort was much better than I expected. The procedure was easy to tolerate. The right side cord is just as expected now. There are no signs or symptoms of any infection.
The bad: The suture line is let's just say, not pretty. Though I know sewing up a floppy skin-bag isn't simple, I've seen online videos with much nicer-looking closures. This seems.... crude. I have a hematoma on the left side now bigger than a golf ball in there. The left cord and the wound itself all seem to be merged with it. It's tender. I don't know what leaked in there, if blood came from the inside of the wound, or the left cord (which had a varicocele so expected a little trouble).
Th ugly: The bruising is a horror show, though slowly improving. I haven't let my wife see any of this yet. There's still a little seepage from the wound, but quite minimal. It has all been a little scary. The doc keeps saying, "It's fine".
This is a relatively simple procedure, but the recovery is a little rocky. I'm working on patience, working on staying calm despite a couple of things looking/feeling a good deal worse than I expected. Not to discourage anyone, but do be aware this whole thing is definitely not trivial.
I am feeling the occasional, let's say, "warm flash". Mild hot flashes a couple times a day, and a couple at night. This is oddly satisfying, since it clearly shows my testosterone is below the castrate level, as it obviously should be!

When I was castrated through my inguinals, the bruising was incredible. Makes you wonder what is done to cause that. I also had a hematoma on my left side too. Got to the size of a billiard ball before it was drained. The sewing will flatted out when the stitches come out and will hide it your 'wrinkles'. Another week and you wont know yourself, Just take it easy Varys. Be well

I had a hematoma on the left side too after the first surgery removing the right testicle and surgery on the left everything grew together making it harder to remove the left one 2 months later. The stitches looked horrible both times but they have flattened and don't look bad. I had my scrotum opened both times and he did interlingua orchetomies both times I still have large mounds where he cut open the interlingua cannels but they are going down. So it took me about 2 months to start to see good results so you should too. Hang in there your brother chesleyt

Thanks! Did you have a procedure to do that, or do you mean it did it by itself? My doc says just wait it out, could even be months.

My scrotum started to rot and he had to go in and remove it and the dead skin the first time then the second surgery I got infection that killed the skin and left a large deep wound that needed more surgery and I'm still healing the open wound. They pack it 3 times a week and the doctor scrapes it once a week with a scalpel.

Oh my. I wish I hadn't asked.....
I hope you do well. I was told the hematoma would resolve itself. That sounds really rough...

Re: New eunuch as of yesterday (4/27)!
Updating, now about 12 days after surgery. The wound line isn't seeping anymore, the bruising is clearing up with just a couple of quite colorful areas left.
People assure me what seems to be going on inside there is probably fine, normal, I'm just trying to pretend it will be ok. This stresses me out. The left side lump/hematoma/swollen cord is a bit bigger than a golf ball, kind of elongated. The scrotum skin seems somehow bonded to it inside. The wound itself is stuck to the same area, and the cord from the right side seems to end up in the same spot too. I don't know WTF, but at this point I can only wait and see. I guess it may all clear up. Maybe it's a glob caused by seepage from vessels on the inside of the scrotum, or the cord ends, maybe it all just coagulated together and will free up once it gets reabsorbed by my body. I don't know, I have no experience with anything like this either from myself or anyone else. Sigh.... I'm just sharing here because I don't have anyone to vent to.
I guess if it is a colossal mess, and it ends up a tangle somehow, I can find a skilled plastic surgeon to clean it up later. Maybe remove much of the scrotum, trim the cords again, or whatever. I know, it's not even 2 weeks yet, but this is not at all what I'd hoped to have 2 weeks after surgery. I'm just hoping I didn't really get myself messed up for an elective surgery...

I had two rather large mishapen lumps in my scrotum after I was castrated. It took 2-3 months for them to go away, but they eventually did. You'll be fine.

Re: New eunuch as of yesterday (4/27)!
I m guessing that with all the blood volume those artrries in the two spermatic cords were pumping through the testicles, that dead ending those arteries in a castration will cause a build up of blood and pressures that swell up the cut ends of both blocked off spermatic cords. Until scar tissue forms and those arteries adjust to being blocked off in a dead end, it makes sense they will be swelled up and bulging until those cut ends scar up enough to shrink in size. Ask your surgeon about it in your follow up visits. Hope they shrink over time if that s what you want to have happen with them.
