Lupron can interact with Celebrex

It was out of necessity that I began taking injections of Lupron years ago. What I didn't know was how fiercely they would interact with the prostaglandin inhibitor that I also take. I take a minimum dose of Celebrex anyway, 100mg/day, but it was enough to turn me anaemic. That's right, low red blood cell count. Quick like a bunny, off to the compounding pharmacy to get some 50mg capsules made. I finished my Lupron treatment knowing that it takes 2 years or more to clear the system. I take iron supplements daily, and my red count has begun to look normal, once more. The chemical castration was to slow the growth of prostate cancer, and 37 radiation treatments have ensured that it will not return. I am so glad that I didn't choose surgery. Half the men waiting their turn for radiation had already had surgery. ( Doc, you missed a spot.)

The drug interaction was unexpected, but proved solvable. I'm still here.
