There were two versions of the movie Flesh Gordon, the edited R rated version and the unedited, unrated version which some people claimed was "X" although it really had no rating at all. Somehow my dad got me in to see the unedited version. As a boy it wasn't too much for me. The violence was all cartoony stuff. In fact STAR WARS was about three times as violent. There was sex but nothing really extreme or hardcore. In fact Flesh Gordon was ahead of its time in that it treated gays with respect, or at least as much respect as it showed everyone else.
However (in a back story) we learn that Emperor Wang was nullified by a "Crazed Penis Flytrap." That's a sentient plant that will bite your stuff off turning you into a eunuch. It's explained that Wang's loss of gender is what caused him to become evil and why he develop an authority complex . Since Wang can't have or enjoy sex himself he wants to wreck it for everyone else.
As a boy this was my take away from the film.
1) Sex is good but only in moderation.
By the movie's standards moderation meant no more than five or six times a day.
2) Uncontrolled nonstop sex is bad.
3) Being a eunuch is the worst of all. Just look at Emperor Wang!
I saw the movie at about the same time I discovered that I'd been cir'ed so the idea of a "Crazed Penis Flytrap" that would eat my stuff was the most scary/difficult part for me.

It sounds like your dad didn t know what was in the snuff movie and just wanted to take you to a regular porno movie to show you that sex is ok and to let you know you were at the age where its ok to be sexual. Probably just got unlucky to have such a rotten porno film happen to be showing and he never watched it to preview it for you to see if it was ok for a kid to watch. The Flesh Gordon movie sounds like he went out of his way to find you a safe and kid friendly porno to make up for that first failure of a movie.
I think he was trying to be a very good dad to help his son make that tough transition from a good little non sexual boy into a horny teen and later into a fully sexual man. He was trying to teach and show you that sex and porn are normal and healthy for males. He was being a great dad in doing that for you. Walking out on that bad movie was being a kind and responsible dad too. He probably felt terrible about exposing you to that.
Maybe those later visits to Chinatown were his attempts to show you that culture wasn t nearly as screwed up as in that movie. I can see how those bound feet would freak a kid out on why anyone would do that to their own kids. Of course circumcising boys and infants is really barbaric too. Most uncut boys and cut boys first realizing their own penis was surgically modified react with horror and confusion on why anyone would ever cut off any parts of a perfectly formed and healthy penis at birth, especially their own penis. Most young boys don t even realize they have been circumcised or why. Most find out their own penis was modified around 10 to 12 years old. Now that more infants are being left intact and uncircumcised, more boys will see intact foreskins at earlier ages to figure out their own foreskins and frenulums are missing. So our culture has a lot to answer for also.
I think most kids view Geishas as mostly women dressed up like china dolls or kabuki dancers and characters. Harmless halloween dressing up in costumes. Not strange or traumatic to kids at all. But likely not any sexual turn on for most boys either since the Geisha clothes hide everything but the face and hands from view.
