After a few weeks of therapist appointments, I was able to find a local DO. practicing informed consent hormone therapy!

Her name is Pat Schmidt. She runs "Center for Transforming Health".

I talked to the manager and she let me know a few things...

Its $175 for the first visit, then an avg of $75 after. Usually 6 month follow ups. Or schedule as needed.

She said to plan on at least an hour for the first visit.

Blood tests etc.

I mentioned hormone deprivation as the main reason for seeing her so we'll see how it goes!

I may continue to see one of my therapists, but don't really feel a lengthy psych eval is needed at this time.

My main goal apart from castration is impotence or penile atrophy.

I would love to be on something like triptolerin because it seems to work extremely well... But I don't have that kind of cash lol!

Im sure ill end up being put on MPA. Which seems both cost effective and will produce some of what Im looking for.

Really its just a few trial run before surgery.

Has anyone experienced depo-provera castration?

I have done 3 6 month chem cast trials with Depo Provera monthly IM injections. It was very effective at lowering T to levels in the teens to low 20s. I experienced all the side effects including hot flashes (which suck) and the loss of energy. I just felt like I wanted to nap all the time. If I pushed through it, I could get through my day. The third trial I included some estrogen and the hot flashes were eliminated and the energy levels were better. I did seem to be more emotional (even more than normal) and I felt better. I took very high doses of E and I did have some breast growth that has remained. No erections (but I also didn't even try) and I noticed my normal 5 inch hard penis got so small I had to shake it loose just to pee. My balls seemed to shrink about 25%.

This was early in the 2000's over the course of several years. Things returned to normal now and I'm pursuing full nullification surgery at this point. Should have my phych letter later this week to proceed. Good luck with your therapy and keep us informed of how your appointment goes.

How often did you have to administer the shots?

Did you stop or switch medication?

I'm 5'8" 160 and athletic build, but bottom heavy.

I would like to supplement e in moderation when that time comes, but remain as male as possible really.

I guess I'll find out.

DP shots were injected once per month IM as directed. I did my trials and stopped after it was over. Had some depression issues get stronger on chem cast but I started with those issues.

What was your regiment?

It looks like there are 150mg syringes & 400mg vials (which are far more expensive?) Available.

Were your trials 18 consecutive months?

Ive seen a lot where maybe 2 shots the first month, then 1 shot after.

I did do 2 shots the first month and one after that. They were 3 separate trials of 6 months each about a year apart. I used the 150mg syringes for pure simplicity and they are economical to purchase.

So after my appointment with Dr. Pat, my regiment will be as-follows.

25mg Spiro for 7 days with 5mg Finasteride

Then

50mg Spiro daily with 5mg Finastride.

My blood test should be back soon, she will alert me to any pertinent or time sensitive information.

My first follow up is a "check in" 2 weeks from now. And ill have blood work done again in 6 months barring and unexpected changes.

I was told that once she and I are comfortable with my bodies response to the lower T, she will proscribe the Depo-provera.

I'm hoping for May 4th (which is my 2 month follow up) unless this Spiro induces the impotence and atrophy I'm looking for.

All and all it was a very good experience. I'm glad to be getting started!

After a phone consultation with my DO, I am now on a 100mg daily regiment.

Ive only noticed maybe 15% libido drop, maybe 5% in erection suppression.

I have experienced no discernable side affects.

Be patient, it takes time for the T levels to drop. 2-5 weeks is not unusual. As your T level drops, you WILL notice changes. Stay encouraged.

Uptade: As of tomorrow Ill be adding 100mg progesterone orally.

So thats 5mg finasteride

100mg of spironolactone

and 100mg progesterone daily.

Ill continue to update, and Ill have my next blood test in 6 weeks.
